Bristol Bears handed a thrashing to Harlequins 61-49 in the Investec Champions Cup in a 16 try contest, moving top of Pool 4. The Bulls centre David Kriel scored four minutes into the second half to reduce the gap but the game was out of reach after that.
The Bristol Bears had dominated play for seven minutes before Janse van Rensburg and Max Lahiff strolled over. After a Bulls response try from Jeandre Rudolph, Heward intercepted a Bulls pass to race over from distance. The Bulls got on the scoreboard after 13 minutes when Rudolph collected a loose ball to dive over but it did nothing to dent Bristol's momentum and they claimed the try bonus point after 15 minutes.
By the time Jacobs had scored his second for the ninth try of the contest the score was 42-21 after 28 minutes. A fortunate bounce allowed Ravouvou to grab his second, before De Klerk and Le Roux crossed for the Bulls and Bristol required an excellent tap-tackle from Janse van Rensburg to stop Mpilo Gumede scoring a 17th try of the day.
Pedro Rubiolo scored and Ravouvou added a second before De Klerk and Le Roux crossed, making it 61-35 with ten minutes remaining. Despite late scores from Sebastian de Klerk and Willie le Roux, the Bears couldn't make up the deficit to claim the win.
The match was played at Pretoria's Loftus Versfeld stadium in front of a crowd of approximately 42,000 fans.
