Closures, courses, and where to watch 2026 Chevron Houston Marathon and Aramco Houston Half Marathon

The Chevron Houston Marathon and Aramco Houston Half Marathon are set to take place on January 9-11, 2026, with the main event happening on Sunday, January 11. The marathon has officially sold out, but there will be various activities for runners of all levels throughout the weekend.

On Friday, January 9, the Houston Marathon Health and Fitness Expo presented by Houston Methodist will kick off at 10 am and run until 6 pm at the George R Brown Convention Center. Runners can also participate in a Shake Out Run with Brooks Running on Friday at 4 pm.

On Saturday, January 10, the We Are Houston 5K presented by Aramco and Chevron will take place. The 5K starts at 6:30 am, followed by other events throughout the day.

The main event, the Chevron Houston Marathon and Aramco Houston Half Marathon, will start on Sunday at 6:55 am from Congress and Fannin streets. Runners will be divided into six corrals based on their predicted finish time, with Corrals C-F using a pulsed start method to reduce course congestion.

The course runs through various neighborhoods in Houston, including the Washington Corridor, Upper Kirby, Rice and West University, the Galleria, Tanglewood, Memorial, and Memorial Park. There will be road closures and parking restrictions in place throughout the city.

Runners can track their favorite runners on race day using the marathon's mobile app or by searching for them on a browser.

This year marks the 54th edition of the Chevron Houston Marathon, which was first held in 1972. The event is organized by the Houston Marathon Committee and takes place on a mix of concrete and asphalt/blacktop surfaces.

There will also be two stories featured about this event: one about a mom who ran her first marathon after having six children, and another about a man who lost over 100 pounds and decided to participate in his first half-marathon.

Ugh, I'm already stressed out thinking about all these marathons and races... like who even needs that much exercise? πŸ€¦β€β™€οΈ Anyway, I guess it's cool that the Chevron Houston Marathon is selling out fast - must be super popular or something. And yay for Brooks Running hosting a Shake Out Run on Friday, because what's a weekend without a bunch of sweaty people pounding the pavement? πŸ’¨ The fact that they're doing this again next year just means more traffic in downtown Houston... can't wait to deal with all those road closures and parking nightmares πŸ˜’. But hey, at least there are some inspiring stories about folks who have completed marathons after having kids or losing a ton of weight - I mean, that's awesome and all, but not exactly my thing πŸ™…β€β™‚οΈ

So it's that time of year again! The Chevron Houston Marathon is like a tradition for many runners in the city πŸƒβ€β™€οΈπŸ’¨. I think what's cool about this event is how they're not just focused on the main marathon, but also on getting people to be active and healthy throughout the weekend. That shake out run with Brooks Running sounds like a great way to get some energy out before the big day.

The fact that there are six corrals for runners based on their predicted finish time is genius πŸ€”. I mean, who doesn't love a good corral competition? But seriously, it's all about safety and course congestion. And wow, can you imagine running through some of those neighborhoods in Houston? From the Galleria to Memorial Park, there are so many interesting areas to explore.

I'm also loving the idea of being able to track your favorite runners on race day πŸ“±. It's like having a little slice of excitement and suspense right in front of you. And hey, if you're feeling inspired, maybe this is the year you lace up those running shoes for the first time yourself? Who knows, it could be life-changing! 😊

πŸƒβ€β™€οΈπŸ’¨ I'm not surprised the marathon sold out, it's always super popular! What's really cool is that there are events for all levels, from the health expo to the Shake Out Run and the 5Ks. It's awesome to see people of all skill levels come together to support each other and crush their fitness goals 🌟. The fact that runners can track their favorite participants using the app is also super convenient and exciting! πŸ“± It's amazing how far running has come, from its humble beginnings in 1972 to this year's sold-out event πŸ….

πŸƒβ€β™€οΈ I think it's awesome that the Chevron Houston Marathon has sold out already! It just goes to show how popular the event is 🀩. I'm actually planning on participating this year, but not sure if I'll be able to run the full marathon πŸ˜…. Maybe I'll start with a 5K and see how my body feels. The expo on Friday sounds like so much fun - can't wait to check out all the gear and get pumped up for the big day πŸ’ͺ.

I've been looking at the course map, and it looks like it's going to be a tough run πŸ”οΈ. I love that they're using pulsed start methods in some of the corrals to reduce congestion. It's all about safety first, right? 😊

idk how i feel about these marathons... πŸ€” on the one hand, it's awesome that people get to run all that distance and stuff, but on the other hand, isn't it kinda harsh that they have to deal with traffic and parking issues? like, can't they just chill for a bit and watch the runners go by? πŸ˜’ also, 54th edition or whatever... doesn't that mean they've been doing this for like, forever? πŸ•°οΈ i dunno...

ugh i dont get why marathons have to be so early on sunday morning... cant they just start like at 10 am or somethin? 😩 like i know lots of people train for this event but dont they need a lil bit more sleep before running 26 miles? 🀯 its gonna be chaotic with all the road closures and parking restrictions, and now i heard its sold out so good luck to everyone tryin to participate! πŸƒβ€β™€οΈπŸ‘

I love watching the live streams of marathons online, especially with all the stats and runner tracking features πŸ“Š. It's so cool to see how everyone does throughout the course. And omg, those inspiring stories about the mom who ran her first marathon after having six kids?! πŸ’ͺ🏽 That woman is a total rockstar! And losing 100 pounds for the half-marathon? πŸƒβ€β™‚οΈ OMG u guys Chevron Houston Marathon & Aramco Half Marathon is literally the most iconic event of 2026 already! 🀩 I'm low-key freaking out cuz my friend just told me she's registered for that Shake Out Run on Friday! πŸ˜† Can't believe it sold out so fast tho. Anyways, 54th edition? That's a major milestone! We need to prep those running outfits & get our game face on πŸ’ͺ. Ugh, January already? Time flies when you're having fun... or running 26.2 miles! πŸƒβ€β™€οΈπŸ’¨ I mean, can't we just keep the new year's resolutions for a bit longer? Alright, alright, Chevron Houston Marathon is out of commission, sold out and all that jazz! But seriously, can you imagine hitting that perfect pace in the midst of chaos on Fannin & Congress streets? 🀣

And I'm loving the story about the mom who ran her first marathon after having six kids. Talk about multitasking! Motherhood 101: running a half-marathon while wrangling tiny humans is like, the ultimate survival skill, am I right? πŸ˜‚ And that dude who lost 100 pounds for his first half-marathon? Same bro, same bro! Who needs a beach body when you can have a "I ran a half-marathon and still ate all the pizza" body? πŸ•πŸƒβ€β™‚οΈ

πŸƒβ€β™€οΈ So it's that time of year again... where all the fitness enthusiasts come out to show off their endurance (and probably drink a whole lot of coffee). I mean, can't wait to see all those speedy runners zip through our lovely city streets, causing minimal disruption to traffic πŸš—. On a more serious note, congrats to everyone who managed to snag a spot in the marathon – it's not easy getting in, so kudos to you! And, wow, 54 years of running marathons... some people just love a good challenge (or a good excuse to eat an entire pizza by themselves πŸ•).
