Deadly blast in Iran’s Bandar Abbas caused by gas leak, official says

Iranian port city Bandar Abbas has been hit by another devastating explosion, this time leaving two people dead and 13 others injured. The blast is believed to have been caused by a gas leak in an eight-storey residential building.

The explosion occurred amid heightened tensions between Iran and the United States, with President Donald Trump previously threatening to attack Tehran over recent anti-government protests. However, Trump has since stated that he believes Iran wants to make a deal rather than face military action.

According to local officials, including fire chief Mohammad Amin Lyaghat, who said "the initial cause of the building accident in Bandar Abbas was a gas leak and buildup, leading to an explosion". The blast caused significant damage to the building, destroying two floors, several vehicles, and shops.

Eyewitnesses describe the scene as chaotic, with debris scattered around the area. The Islamic Revolutionary Guard Corps (IRGC) has denied that any of its naval forces in the province were targeted by the explosion.

The incident comes amid fears of a military confrontation between Iran and the US. Ali Larijani, a senior Iranian security official, has downplayed tensions, stating that work on a framework for negotiations with the US is progressing.

The port city of Bandar Abbas is a vital waterway in the Strait of Hormuz, which handles about a fifth of the world's seaborne oil. The area has experienced significant unrest in recent times, including a major explosion last year that killed dozens of people and injured over 1,000 others.

Separately, another gas explosion occurred in the city of Ahvaz near the Iraqi border, killing four people.

Ugh this is getting out of hand 🤯, first it's the oil rig, then a plane crashes on a military parade... you'd think everyone would take these threats seriously for once 😒. Two more explosions in one week, what's going on with Iran? Can't they just keep their promises without blowing stuff up every five minutes? 🚨

I'm getting really worried about these explosions in Iran... like, what's going on?! 🤯 They're already dealing with high tensions between them and the US, and now this?! It's just too much. Two more innocent lives lost because of a gas leak? It's just heartbreaking. I mean, you can't even keep track of all these explosions anymore - last year it was like 40 people dead, now four in Ahvaz... what's happening to the city of Bandar Abbas?! 😩 And the fact that they're denying any involvement from the IRGC doesn't sit right with me. I wish these two nations could just talk things out already... but at this rate, I'm not holding my breath 🤞

🚨😱 This is getting crazy! Another massive explosion hits Iran, leaving more casualties behind... I'm really worried about what's going on there. How many times can a country take these kinds of disasters before things get really out of hand? It feels like they're caught in a perpetual nightmare. 🌪️

The fact that this happened at the same time as tensions between Iran and the US are escalating makes me think it might be more than just an accident... Like, is someone trying to send a message or something? 🤔 But on the other hand, if Ali Larijani is saying work is progressing on negotiations with the US, that's gotta be a good sign, right? ⚖️ We just need to keep our fingers crossed and hope for some positive change soon. 💕

OMG 😱 just when you think Iran is calm... another devastating explosion hits Bandar Abbas 🤯! Two people are dead and 13 injured, which is still a lot considering it's not as intense as last year's blast 🌪️. Gas leak in an 8-storey residential building? Sounds super sketchy to me 🚨.

I get that tensions between Iran and the US are high, but can't we just hope for some peace and stability over here? 💕 The fact that Ali Larijani is downplaying tensions makes sense, but it's hard not to wonder if this explosion was even connected to the ongoing diplomatic talks 🤔.

Anyway, I'm sending my thoughts to the people of Bandar Abbas. Hopefully, authorities can get to the bottom of this and make sure something like this doesn't happen again soon 🤞. And ugh, another gas explosion in Ahvaz? That's just too much 😩.

just when u think its all good in iran 🤕... another massive explosion hits bandar abbass. 2 dead & 13 injured so far. sounds like a gas leak gone wrong but tensions between usa & iran are on high alert. dont know what to make of this one 😕. these port cities are getting hit hard, people are scared. and now another one in ahvaz... hope everyone stays safe 🙏. wish those involved could just calm down for a sec and talk things out like adults 👵. not sure how much more of this i can take 😩

"Life is a little unfair sometimes." 💔😩 Another devastating blast hits Bandar Abbas, leaving two dead and 13 injured. It's like the universe just can't give Iran a break, right? 😬 The tensions between Iran and the US are running high, but it seems like every time things calm down, something like this happens. It's like the old saying goes: "You can't escape what you're meant to encounter." 🤯

😩 just think about it, another devastating explosion in Iran, it's like, what's going on with this country 🤯? First it's protests, then a major explosion that kills dozens, and now this one in Bandar Abbas... it's like the whole region is on edge. And what's the US doing? Trying to negotiate or just playing politics with lives? I'm not saying Iran should be treated lightly either, but can't we all just talk things out instead of resorting to threats and explosions? 🤝

Another explosion in Bandar Abbas is just devastating 🤕... can't believe it's happened again. Two people dead, 13 injured, and it's all because of a gas leak in that building 😩. I mean, how many times do you have to say 'never again' before something like this happens? And with tensions between Iran and the US so high, it feels like we're just waiting for the other shoe to drop 🤯.

The fact that it's happened just days after the last major explosion in the area is really worrying. The port city is such a vital part of the global oil trade, and if there's even a chance of instability here, it could have huge repercussions 🔥. And then we've got this latest incident in Ahvaz, which is just another example of how unstable things are right now 🤕.

I guess what I'm saying is that while it's good to hear that negotiations between Iran and the US are progressing (if Ali Larijani really does think so), we can't keep ignoring the fact that these kinds of explosions are happening with alarming regularity 💥. Something needs to change, and soon 🕰️.

man this is like what happens when hubris meets recklessness... u gotta be careful with those gas pipes, seems like it's always someone else's problem till it blows up in ur face 🤦‍♂️. we cant just dismiss the tensions between Iran & US, but maybe we should try 2 find a middle ground instead of fuelling each other's fires 🔥. it's like that old saying "you can't have your cake and eat it too"... seems like we're all trying to protect our interests without considering the consequences 💸.

omg like what's going on with iran?? 🤯 there should be some safety measures in place especially in a residential building can't they do better than that? 💔 i mean i know tensions are high between us and them but this is just so senseless... 🙅‍♂️ anyway, hope the injured get better soon 🤞 and that bandar abbas recovers from this explosion ASAP 🚧

🌎💥 just reading about this explosion in Bandar Abbas and i'm really worried about the situation in Iran right now... it feels like things are escalating too fast 🤯 and i hope that any tensions between the US and Iran can be resolved peacefully 💪. two more people lost their lives today and 13 others injured, it's just heartbreaking 😔. how many times does a gas explosion have to happen before something gets done about building safety? 🚧👀

.. can we really talk about global politics without thinking about the human cost? I mean, two innocent lives lost because of a building accident caused by a gas leak... it's like, what are we even doing here? Are we so caught up in our own game of geopolitics that we forget about the people who get hurt in the process?

And then there's this back-and-forth between Iran and the US... it's like a never-ending cycle of tension and aggression. But what's really driving this? Is it just about power and interests, or is there something more at play? We need to ask ourselves, what are we fighting for, really?

And let's not forget that Bandar Abbas is an important waterway... but what does that even mean in the grand scheme of things? Are we just fueling our own addiction to oil and power without thinking about the consequences? It's like, have we lost sight of what truly matters? 🤔💥

Ugh 🤕, this is just too much! Another devastating explosion in Iran and I'm worried it's going to get worse before it gets better 😬. The fact that two people lost their lives and 13 others are injured is just heartbreaking 💔. And to make things worse, the situation with Iran and the US is getting more tense by the day 🚨. I mean, I know both sides have a lot at stake, but come on, can't we all just try to talk this out without blowing things up? 🤞

And what's really worrying me is the impact it could have on global oil prices 💸. The Strait of Hormuz is such an important waterway and if there were to be any kind of major disruption, it would send shockwaves around the world 🌎.

I just hope that Ali Larijani is right and that work on a framework for negotiations with the US is progressing 💼. We need some calm and reason in all this chaos 😅.

😞 just heard about the latest explosion in Bandar Abbas... it's like, what's going on with Iran right now? 🤯 two people dead and 13 others hurt is just too much 💔. gas leak, buildup, explosion... sounds so avoidable 🙄. hope everyone involved gets proper medical help ASAP 👍. can't help but wonder if the tensions between Iran and the US are getting out of hand 🚨💥. seems like the situation is already pretty volatile 💥. any way, sending good vibes to the people affected 🌈💕.

idk about this... like yeah, Iran is having some major issues with the US, but then again, Trump says they wanna talk it out, so what's really goin' on? 🤔👀 I mean, two people dead in Bandar Abbas is pretty messed up, but at the same time, it feels like just another accident waitin' to happen... gas leaks are a thing, folks. and 13 injured ain't no joke either... 🤕😷 But on the flip side, Ali Larijani says things are under control, so maybe we should chill out for a sec? 🙏👍

I'm really worried about those explosions in Iran. It's just so sad to see innocent people getting hurt 💔. I don't think it's good when there are tensions between countries and it affects regular folks like this. Can we please try to talk things out instead of having conflicts? 🤝 This explosion is just a reminder that our lives can change in an instant. It makes me wish the US and Iran could find common ground for peace 🕊️. I mean, what's the point of all these threats if nobody gets hurt? 😔

😱 oh no, can't believe this is happening again... two innocent lives lost, 13 more hurt... what's going on with Iran? 🤯 I mean, I know tensions are high between them and the US, but it feels like they're always on the brink of something. And now this explosion in Bandar Abbas... it's just devastating. 💔 Those poor families who lost their loved ones, 13 more hurt... what about the damage to the buildings and vehicles? 🤕 It's not just human lives, there are so many economic and infrastructure impacts too.

And then you have these other gas explosions happening in different parts of the country... it feels like a ticking time bomb. 😬 How can we keep expecting something to go wrong when all these things are happening? My heart goes out to the people affected by this explosion, I hope they get the help and support they need ASAP 💪.

Ugh, this is getting old... another devastating explosion in Bandar Abbas 🚨💥. I mean, can't they even get a safety inspection done around here? It's like they're just waiting for something to go wrong. And now two people are dead and 13 others injured. That's just terrible 😔.

And what's with all the politics surrounding this explosion? Trump is threatening Iran again 🙄, but I'm not sure anyone believes him at this point. The Iranians are trying to downplay tensions, but it's hard to trust them when you've got a history of military build-ups and aggressive rhetoric.

I'm just worried about the safety of people living in these cities. Can't we focus on resolving conflicts peacefully instead of constantly looking for ways to blow things up? 💔 The oil industry is already so volatile - do we really need more explosions in this region?! 🤯

🤕 Oh man, two more explosions in Bandar Abbas? That's just getting crazy! I mean, can't we all just get along? 😩 First it's the US and Iran, now it's like, what's next? A gas leak is one thing, but an explosion that kills people? So sad 🤕. I'm keeping my fingers crossed that Ali Larijani's right and they're working on something...like, a framework for negotiations or whatever 💬. Can't wait to see how this all plays out!
