E-motorcycle rider dies in crash with NYU Langone ambulance in Brooklyn, officials say

A 65-year-old man riding an electric motorcycle was killed in a devastating collision with a NYU Langone ambulance in Brooklyn early Sunday morning. The accident occurred near Ashland Place and Willoughby Street in Fort Greene, where the motorcyclist, identified as Ray Wilkerson Lynwood, veered into oncoming traffic and crossed the double-yellow line.

According to police, the ambulance was speeding north on Ashland Place when it struck Lynwood, who was heading south. The vehicle had its emergency lights flashing and sirens blaring at the time of the collision, responding to a call for a man in distress. Miraculously, no injuries were reported among the three NYU Langone ambulance crew members.

However, Lynwood suffered fatal head trauma and was pronounced dead shortly after arrival at Brooklyn Methodist Hospital. Tragically, his last known home address is only blocks away from the scene of the accident.

Police have launched an investigation into the incident, which remains ongoing. The NYPD has confirmed that all necessary protocols were followed during the response to the emergency call.

My heart goes out to Ray Wilkerson Lynwood's family and loved ones πŸ€•πŸ˜”. Can't even imagine how devastating this must be for them. This incident is a harsh reminder of the risks we all face, even as we try to help others in need. Feeling so sorry for his son and daughter who will now have to grow up without their dad πŸ’”. It's just heartbreaking that something like this can happen in our own community πŸŒ†. May he rest in peace and may those who were responding to the emergency call be comforted knowing they did everything they could πŸ’•.

😞 What a devastating start to the day... my heart goes out to Ray Wilkerson Lynwood's loved ones πŸ€•. It's crazy how one wrong move on the road can lead to such tragic consequences πŸ’€. I mean, who expects an ambulance to be speeding north on Ashland Place? 🚨πŸ’₯ The fact that the crew was responding to a distress call and had emergency lights flashing doesn't change the fact that this accident was avoidable πŸ€¦β€β™‚οΈ.

It's also really sad that Ray lived just blocks away from where he lost his life πŸ˜”. I wonder if it could've been prevented if more people were paying attention while driving or even if there were speed bumps around that corner... πŸŒ³πŸ’¨. Anyway, my thoughts are with Ray and his family, and I hope the investigation brings some answers to what really happened πŸ’‘.

aww man this is bad news... 65 yr old guy just lost his life in a freak accident on the road can't believe it was supposed to be an ambulance responding to a emergency call... those siren lights are supposed to mean help is on the way not a death sentence πŸ˜±πŸ’”. and worst part is, guy's last known address is literally nearby so his family might still be trying to process this πŸ€•. hope they can get some answers from the police investigation but feels like it could've been avoided if just one thing was different πŸ€¦β€β™‚οΈ

πŸ˜±πŸ’” Another one bites the dust... Can't believe this dude was just riding around on his electric motorcycle and then BAM! gets taken out by a speeding ambulance. I mean, what's going through their minds? 🀯 Did they not see him? Was it a distraction or something? The fact that he lived blocks away from the accident makes it even more tragic... poor guy. πŸš‘πŸ’€ NYPD is saying all protocols were followed but can we really trust them on this one? Still waiting for the investigation results to come out...

Can't believe this is still happening in 2025 πŸ€¦β€β™‚οΈ... like 15 years after they introduced those fancy Tesla Autopilot systems πŸ˜’. How hard is it for a human driver to pay attention on the road?! I mean, even back in the day when GPS wasn't a thing, you'd at least get a warning or something if you were gonna veer into traffic. Now we got self-driving cars and still we've got people like Ray Lynwood getting killed in accidents... it's just not right πŸš—πŸ˜’. And can we talk about those ambulance speeds?! I know they're supposed to be fast, but come on! Can't we find a balance between urgency and safety? πŸ€·β€β™‚οΈ
