Ekitiké and Wirtz sink Newcastle before Konaté seals welcome Liverpool win

Newcastle's High Hopes Crushed as Liverpool Striker Shines at Anfield

Eddie Howe's Newcastle United suffered another humiliating defeat at Anfield, this time by the scoreline of 6-0 to bitter rivals Liverpool. The Magpies' struggles in front of goal continued, with Anthony Gordon scoring the opening goal for the visitors only for Hugo Ekitiké, the player they desperately wanted to sign last summer, to turn the game on its head.

The France international striker's performance was nothing short of devastating, with three goals and an assist to seal a convincing win for the Reds. His first goal came after Florian Wirtz had equalised for Liverpool in the 40th minute, and Ekitiké then struck again just two minutes later to put his side ahead.

The Newcastle defence looked shaky at times, with Ibrahima Konaté capitalising on a mistake to score his first league goal of the season. The win was also significant for Liverpool, who came from behind to win 6-0 - their first such victory in the Premier League at Anfield since last season.

Newcastle had started strongly, taking the lead through Joe Willock's assist to Anthony Gordon, but the visitors were soon chasing the contest after a series of Liverpool attacks. Mohamed Salah was one of several Reds players who threatened to score before Ekitiké finally put his side ahead.

The second half saw Newcastle continue to push forward, with Barnes being denied by Alisson on occasion, but it was Liverpool who dominated possession and created chance. A third goal from Wirtz sealed the win for the Reds, while a late strike from Konaté secured the six-goal victory.

For Ekitiké, his performance marked another step in his development as one of Europe's top strikers. His partnership with Wirtz has been a key factor in Liverpool's success this season, and it looks like the money invested in signing him will prove to be shrewd.

I feel bad for Newcastle fans 🤕... that game was a tough one to watch. I think Ekitiké just got into a rhythm and his confidence is growing, which makes him an even scarier striker for opposing teams. The Reds' dominance in the second half was impressive 💪... it's clear they've made some shrewd signings this season. As for Newcastle, they need to work on their defensive solidity ⚽️ - but at least Joe Willock got that goal, right? 🙌

Umm... so like I was watching this game on TV and I thought Liverpool was gonna lose lol 😂 I mean they had some good players but Newcastle seemed all over the place 🤯. And Ekitiké is like a superhero or something, scoring that many goals! 😮 I'm not even following this team that much but it looks like they really need to get their act together... maybe they can hire a new coach? 🤷‍♂️ I love watching football though, it's so intense! Did I mention I just got the new FIFA game? 🎮

I'm so frustrated for Newcastle 🤕! They've been having such a tough time lately and that 6-0 loss at Anfield was just devastating 😩. I think they need some serious reinforcements in their squad, especially up front. Hugo Ekitiké was absolutely unstoppable today ⚡️ - he's definitely a top striker now!

It's also got to be frustrating for Eddie Howe 🙄. He's a great manager, but sometimes you just can't catch a break when things aren't going your way. You've got to wonder what could have been if they'd signed him last summer instead of losing out on Ekitiké... that was a big miss ⚠️.

But hey, at least Liverpool got the win 💪! They looked really dominant out there and it's clear that their partnership between Ekitiké and Wirtz is a game-changer 🤝. I'm excited to see how the rest of the season plays out now... especially for Newcastle fans 😬.

omg what's wrong with newcastle?? 😩 they're getting destroyed by liverpool left right and centre! eddie howe needs to sort their defence out ASAP 💡 edditiké is on fire tho, that guy's got skills 🤯 6-0 is a bit harsh though, but you can't deny the france international striker's talent. what's going on with newcastle's squad? they seem to be playing the same team over and over again 😴 still hoping they turn it around before the season's out 🤞

omg i just watched the whole match 🤯 and thats like 3 goals from that one guy ekitiké!! is he for real? lol didnt see the game but sounds like newcastle got destroyed 😂 and lfc was on fire! love how wirtz and ekitiké are killing it together 🤝 does anyone know why eddie howe signed him last summer? i mean they were supposed to get him, but apparently missed out 🤔

ugh I'm so done with Newcastle's struggles 🤦‍♂️...like, I get that they're trying their best but 6-0 is just brutal 🚫...and can we talk about how Ekitiké just destroyed it on the field? 😲 his skills are insane and he's definitely proving to be a shrewd signing for Liverpool 💸...anyway, just wanted to vent a bit about this game 😩

🚨💔 Oh noooo, Newcastle just got absolutely smashed by 6-0 at Anfield! 😱 They really are struggling to score goals, and their defense looked super shaky too 🤦‍♂️. And to make matters worse, that gorgeous player they wanted to sign last summer, Ekitiké, just scored a hat-trick for Liverpool 🎉👀. I mean, the guy's got some serious skills, but it's like he's rubbing salt in their wounds 😩. Poor Newcastle... what are they gonna do to turn this season around? 🤔

😐 just watched that game and I'm still trying to process how bad Newcastle's defense is... can't believe they got thrashed 6-0 at home 🤦‍♂️. Ekitiké was on fire tho, his goalkeeping skills (for Liverpool) are insane 😱. He's definitely one of the top strikers in Europe now 👏. On a positive note for Newcastle, Willock did put them up early so they can't be all bad 🤔

🤦‍♂️ The Magpies' struggles just keep on coming... I mean, what's going on at Newcastle? They've had some decent signings, but it seems they're just not gelling. Ekitiké's performance was insane though - he single-handedly won that game for Liverpool! 🤩 And Wirtz is looking like a solid partnership with him now... I'm loving the Reds' resurgence this season. 😎 They've got some fire power up front, and it's gonna be tough for anyone to beat them at Anfield. 💪

man this liverpool team is on fire 🚀💥 they just destroyed newcastle 6-0 lol what were eddie howe's tactics thinking 😂🤦‍♂️ anyway i think hugo ekitiké is a beast he's living his dream and scoring goals for the reds 🎯⚽️ his partnership with wirtz is deadly 💀💣 it's like they're unstoppable now 🌪️ and newcastle needs to get their act together if they wanna compete with liverpool ⚔️👊
