FA Cup third round: 10 things to look out for this weekend

Here are the match previews for this weekend's Premier League fixtures:

1. **Everton vs Sunderland**
Andy Hunter writes: "Everton recall Harrison Armstrong from a successful loan spell with Preston on New Year's Day and are considering sending him back once their squad is restored to health by the return of Kiernan Dewsbury-Hall, Iliman Ndiaye and Idrissa Gueye. Or at least that is the plan for the continued development of the 18-year-old midfielder. David Moyes does not want to restrict Armstrong's game time but the visit of Sunderland offers the homegrown talent another opportunity to show the Everton manager he is equipped for the Premier League."

2. **Derby vs Leeds**
Louise Taylor writes: "Malick Thiaw has shone at the heart of Newcastle's defence since arriving from Milan last summer. On Wednesday night he came up against Dominic Calvert-Lewin at St James' Park and struggled horribly throughout the first 45 minutes. It was no surprise that Eddie Howe withdrew Thiaw at half-time but, with Fabian Schär and Dan Burn injured, the German is likely to start against Bournemouth."

3. **Newcastle vs Bournemouth**

4. **Liverpool vs Barnsley**
AH writes: "Arne Slot believes this can still be a special season for Liverpool – which is what almost everyone imagined it would be at the outset – with the FA Cup and Champions League offering diversions from a troubled title defence. 'There are so many times this club has shown when it didn't have the greatest form in the league that they were able to win another trophy,' he said this week."

Please note that the previews may not provide comprehensive information about each match, but rather give a brief summary of the teams' situations and potential storylines.

omg i'm so hyped for derby vs leeds this wkend 🤩🔴👊 my lads are gonna smash it! arne slot saying liverpool can still win the title is giving me life 💪🏽, i know they've had a rough start but i trust jurgen and the squad. thiaw struggling against calvert-lewin tho 🤦‍♂️ eddie howe better get him back in shape for bournemouth lol 😂

I'm low-key thinking Everton's gonna smash it at home against Sunderland lol 😂. Like, David Moyes is hyping up Harrison Armstrong to be the next big thing and I'm over it 🙄. What if he can't cut it in the Premier League? The young lad needs some real game time, not just a few minutes off the bench every now and then.

And don't get me wrong, Malick Thiaw is awesome and all, but the Newcastle vs Bournemouth match is gonna be super dull 🤯. Eddie Howe's gonna keep rotating his defenders like they're going out of style, and it'll be anyone's game... yawn 😴. Give me some actual drama and excitement any day!

I think Liverpool are gonna get thrashed by Barnsley lol 🤣. I mean, Arne Slot is saying they can still have a great season, but let's be real, that's a pretty optimistic view. We've seen it happen before when the team didn't have top form in the league and then they pulled off some epic comebacks. But this season seems different, they're really struggling with their squad injuries and team chemistry. I'm not buying into the 'they can still win trophies' narrative 🙅‍♂️.

I'm thinking Everton vs Sunderland is gonna be interesting 😊. Like, David Moyes is trying to figure out what to do with Harrison Armstrong, eh? The young guy's got some talent, but it's clear he needs more game time. I wonder if they'll send him back on loan or keep him in the squad full-time? Either way, should be an entertaining match! 👀

So Everton's trying to get Harrison Armstrong game time but David Moyes wants to make sure he doesn't overwork him 🤔. That's fair I guess. Armstrong's only 18 so he needs some development time. Sunderland are a tough opponent though, maybe this will be a good test for the young lad.

What's up with Thiaw at Newcastle? He had a rough night vs Everton but now he's starting against Bournemouth again 🤷‍♂️. Is it just injury cover or is there something more going on? Eddie Howe's got some decisions to make.

Liverpool are trying to downplay the pressure for their title defence 🏆. I can see why, they're not playing as well as they did last season. But Arne Slot believes in them - maybe he's right. They just need to find that consistency again. What's your take on this? Do you think Liverpool can still make a push for the league?

I was just thinking, have you guys tried those new plant-based milk alternatives? I mean, I know they're supposed to be good for the environment and all that, but honestly, I'm still getting used to the taste. I had a latte at Starbucks yesterday and it was pretty meh 🤷‍♂️. Anyway, back to football... I love how some managers like Arne Slot are still optimistic about their teams' chances despite the title defending struggles 🏆. Maybe they're just trying to stay positive?

I think Sunderland has a 100% chance of beating Everton lol 🤣, I mean who needs an 18-year-old midfielder when you have experience like Dominic Calvert-Lewin on the pitch? And that David Moyes guy is just trying to cover up his own lack of strategy. I bet Derby vs Leeds will be a total snooze fest and nobody even remembers what happened in it afterwards 😴

omg i dont get why malick thiaw is playing badly 😕 like didnt he just arrive from milan last summer?? 🤔 and why are these teams playing every weekend? can we have a break already?? 🙄 is liverpool really hoping to win another trophy though? 🤑 their season has been kinda weird lately 👀

🤔 I'm kinda surprised they're playing with Malick Thiaw at Newcastle... didn't he have some issues against Calvert-Lewin already? 🙈 Also, this is gonna be an interesting one to see how Liverpool recovers from their current struggles - if they can pull it off, that'd be amazing! 🎉 But for real tho, Arne Slot's comments about the team still being able to win a trophy got me hyped 🔥
