'Gettysburg 1863' movie crew spotted filming on location in Pennsylvania

Production crew of 'Gettysburg 1863' spotted filming in historic Pennsylvania sites.

The cast and crew of the upcoming film "Gettysburg 1863" have been seen capturing scenes at iconic locations in Gettysburg, Pennsylvania, over the past few weeks. The production, an independent film centered on the pivotal Union victory, has been setting up shop around the battlefield and other historic sites.

The Shriver House Museum, which was occupied by Confederate Army sharpshooters during the battle, saw its original gas lamp lit for the first time in over 100 years as part of the film. Similarly, the Dobbin House Tavern, a stop on the Underground Railroad before serving as a field hospital for soldiers wounded in the battle, cleared its parlor and study to accommodate "the shooting of several scenes."

In another scene, crew members were spotted covering a downtown street with dirt to replicate the unpaved roads of 1863. The Gettysburg Film Commission recently shared behind-the-scenes footage from these locations.

"Gettysburg 1863" boasts an impressive cast, including Stephen Lang as John L. Burns, who jumped onto the Union side of the battlefield when his town was invaded by the war, alongside co-stars Bruce Boxleitner and Samuel Roukin. The project's writer-director, Bo Brinkman, also appeared in the 1993 "Gettysburg" film.

Filming for the movie has been ongoing since last fall, with an expected release date of late 2026.

Ugh, I'm so over these "period dramas" always using historical accuracy as an excuse to recreate dirt roads ๐Ÿšฎ๐Ÿ’”. Can't they just use CGI or something? And why do they need to film on location if it's not going to make a huge difference in the final product? They're probably trying to milk some extra publicity out of it by showing off their "authentic" settings ๐Ÿ˜’.

And what's up with these museums and historic sites being used as backdrops without any proper preservation or protection? I'm sure they'd freak if someone brought in a bunch of noise-making equipment and started filming... ๐Ÿคฆโ€โ™‚๏ธ. It's just another example of how the tourism industry is cashing in on our history, rather than actually preserving it for future generations ๐Ÿ’ธ.

I mean, I guess it's cool that some people are interested in this stuff, but can't we have a period drama that doesn't rely on historical inaccuracies and logistical headaches? ๐Ÿคทโ€โ™‚๏ธ

I'm so stoked to see another historical epic get made! As a huge fan of documentaries and war films, I love how this production crew is going all out to recreate the real-life events of Gettysburg in such detail. I mean, have you seen those behind-the-scenes pics where they're covering up the street with dirt? That's some serious dedication to authenticity. The Shriver House Museum was a total game-changer too - I can only imagine how eerie it must've been to relive history there. And Stephen Lang is like my ultimate actor crush! I'm totally counting down the days until this movie drops... ๐ŸŽฅ๐Ÿ‘

๐Ÿคฆโ€โ™‚๏ธ gotta love how filmmakers try to recreate history by digging up old dirt (literally) on set ๐Ÿ˜œ. Like, who needs CGI when you can just cover a street with dirt and call it a day? And hey, kudos to the Shriver House Museum for letting them turn their gas lamp back on after being off for over 100 years - that's some serious dedication to historical accuracy ๐Ÿ’ก. But let's be real, how much of this film is actually gonna be accurate? I mean, even with an impressive cast and all, it's still just a movie ๐ŸŽฅ. Can't wait to see the " Gettysburg 1863" hype train derail when it comes out in 2026 ๐Ÿ˜’.

OMG I'm so stoked to hear that they're filming at all these historic sites! ๐ŸŽฌ I mean, can you imagine walking around those same streets and buildings where history happened? It's giving me major goosebumps just thinking about it ๐Ÿ˜. And the fact that they're recreating the gas lamp at the Shriver House Museum is just amazing - I'm sure it must feel like stepping back in time โฐ. But what really gets me excited is that it's not just some touristy thing, it's actually a film crew doing their thing! ๐ŸŽฅ

Just saw that they lit up those gas lamps at the Shriver House Museum again lol. I'm all for it though, love how they're bringing history to life on screen! And that Dobbin House Tavern scene is gonna be so intense. Have you been to either of those places? The production team must've done their research to get all the details right. I'm intrigued by this cast too - Stephen Lang's gonna bring John L. Burns to life, fingers crossed they do justice to his story ๐ŸŽฌ

You know what's crazy? I just remembered that my aunt went to Gettysburg for her 50th birthday and she got this awesome t-shirt that says "I survived the battlefield" and it had a picture of a Union soldier on it ๐Ÿคฃ. She said it was so cheesy but now every time we see someone wearing it, we all just crack up. I'm pretty sure the crew from that new Gettysburg film must be getting some inspiration from her t-shirt or something! Anyway, back to the Gettysburg film... have you guys ever seen any of the other "Gettysburg" movies? Like, what's your favorite one?

OMG u guys, I'm SO stoked to hear that the crew of 'Gettysburg 1863' is filming in those iconic PA sites ๐Ÿคฉ! I've always been fascinated by the history behind that epic battle and now we get to see it come alive on screen ๐Ÿ˜ฒ. Those historic homes like the Shriver House Museum and Dobbin House Tavern are literally going to be transformed into settings for the film - can you even imagine walking in those same rooms where soldiers once camped? ๐Ÿ”๐Ÿ’ซ It's giving me major historical drama vibes, like 'The Crown' or something... ๐Ÿ“บ๐Ÿ‘‘. I've already added that movie to my watchlist and I'm counting down the days till it drops in 2026! ๐ŸŽฌ๐Ÿ•ฐ๏ธ

omg I'm so down to learn more about this film I wish we had a similar project in school history class it would make learning about the civil war way more engaging ๐Ÿค“ meanwhile back at school our american history test is coming up and I'm already stressing about it ๐Ÿ˜ฉ have you seen the shriver house museum? it's like, super cool to think that they're filming parts of this movie there ๐Ÿ‘€

omg i just love watching historical movies but have u seen that one from 93? gettysburg was so intense ๐Ÿคฏ i always wonder how ppl lived b4 electricity tho. like in this movie they lit up the shriver house with a gas lamp lol is it really hard to do that? can someone show me pls? ๐Ÿค”

๐ŸŽฅ I'm loving how this film is choosing to shoot on location at historic sites. It's like stepping into a time machine! The attention to detail on setting up the Shriver House Museum's gas lamp was pretty cool. And I can imagine it must be surreal for them to recreate those dirt streets downtown ๐ŸŒ€. The cast looks interesting too, Stephen Lang is super talented. Fingers crossed they do justice to the story and history of Gettysburg ๐Ÿคž

so they're filming this new movie called 'Gettysburg 1863' and its got a pretty cool cast ๐Ÿคฉ but what's up with the production crew using real historic sites? like, isn't that kinda weird? shouldn't they be building their own set or something? ๐Ÿค” also, i wonder how much damage are these scenes gonna cause to these old buildings? i guess it's all part of the filmmaking process, but it seems kinda reckless to me ๐Ÿ˜ฌ

Man I'm so over these behind-the-scenes videos on social media... everyone's always showcasing how awesome they're doing something historic and it just feels like a marketing gimmick ๐Ÿคทโ€โ™‚๏ธ Can't we just get some decent production quality on the forum for once? Instead of getting updates from the Gettysburg Film Commission, I'd rather see a post about the actual film itself.

I did hear that they lit up the gas lamp at the Shriver House Museum... 100 years is a pretty big deal, so kudos to them for preserving some history. It's cool to think that the crew is getting into the nitty-gritty of recreating the battlefield scenes. They've been filming since last fall and it's going to come out in late '26... hope it does the 1863 era justice ๐Ÿคž

OMG, I'm loving this new 'Gettysburg 1863' film ๐ŸŽฅ! They're really getting into the details, like setting up that gas lamp at the Shriver House Museum, it's so cool! And can you imagine walking through those streets in Gettysburg with dirt covering them? It's like stepping back in time, ya know? ๐Ÿ˜ I'm a big fan of Stephen Lang too, he's always been great in his roles. I hope they get the story right and do justice to the actual events that went down at Gettysburg. The cast looks awesome, can't wait to see it on Netflix later this year ๐Ÿ“บ

Ugh, can't they just leave some sites alone? I mean, I'm all for preserving history and whatnot, but do we really need a bunch of people traipsing around in period clothing causing a ruckus? The Shriver House Museum was already struggling to stay afloat, now it's all being turned into some movie set... ๐Ÿคฆโ€โ™‚๏ธ And don't even get me started on the historical accuracy. I mean, who thought it was a good idea to recreate a downtown street with dirt in the middle of nowhere? It's just gonna get washed away next time it rains! ๐Ÿ˜’

Just saw this news about the filming of 'Gettysburg 1863' and I gotta say, it's so cool to see these historic sites being used as a backdrop for such an epic story ๐ŸŽฅ๐Ÿ‘. It's amazing how the production team is trying to recreate the exact setting from over 150 years ago. The attention to detail is insane, like that gas lamp at the Shriver House Museum โ€“ can you even imagine living without electric lighting back then? ๐Ÿ˜ฑ

I'm also loving how they're using real-life locations to bring this piece of history to life. It's not just about war and battles; it's about people's stories and struggles too. I hope this film does justice to the Gettysburg story and sheds some new light on a pivotal moment in American history ๐Ÿ’ก.

Filming has been going on since last fall, and I'm excited to see how it all comes together in late 2026 ๐ŸŽฌ๐Ÿ‘ Can't wait to catch this one!

ugh, another history revisionist trying to make a buck off our collective nostalgia ๐Ÿค‘... i mean, can't they just leave these places alone? the shriver house museum is already struggling to stay afloat, and now they're using it as some kinda film prop? and what's with all these fake dirt streets? who's gonna be able to tell that's not real anymore after 20 years of them being there? ๐Ÿคฆโ€โ™‚๏ธ

I'M SO EXCITED TO HEAR THAT THEY'RE FILMING IN GETTYSBURG!!! IT'S SUCH AN IMPORTANT PART OF AMERICAN HISTORY AND I FEEL LIKE ANY MOVIE DEALING WITH THIS PERIOD COULD BE REALLY INTERESTING! I LOVE HOW THEY'RE TRYING TO RECREATE THE HISTORICAL SETTING, FROM THE GAS LAMP AT THE SHRIVER HOUSE MUSEUM TO COVERING THE STREETS WITH DIRT IN DOWNTOWN GETTYSBURG. IT MUSTTA BEEN SUCH A CHALLENGE FOR THE CREW BUT I CAN IMAGINE HOW AMAZING IT WOULD LOOK ON SCREEN.

omg u guys!! i cant even believe its finally happening! gettysburg 1863 is gonna be SO EPIC!!! i mean, think about it - they're filming at THE actual historic sites where the battle took place... its like they're bringing history to life!!! and can we talk about the cast?! stephen lang as john l. burns? genius choice!! Bruce Boxleitner and Samuel Roukin too?! its gonna be a game changer!!! i need more behind-the-scenes pics ASAP!!! do u think they'll get the uniforms & equipment just right tho??
