A young girl, estimated to be between 10 and 13 years old, was found alone outside a McDonald's in the Bronx late Monday night. The NYPD received a report of an unaccompanied child at 36 West Fordham Rd., University Heights, around 10:30 p.m. The girl, described as approximately 5'2" and weighing 80 pounds, was initially taken into custody by police.
She was discovered without adult supervision wearing a pink sweatshirt, gray sweatpants, and black sandals. Unfortunately, her verbal communication skills are limited, according to the NYPD. The child's condition is reported stable after being transported to North Central Bronx Hospital.
Following a preliminary investigation, authorities announced that they had located the girl's family. A reunion took place in the late afternoon Tuesday, bringing closure to this potentially distressing ordeal for the young girl and her loved ones.
