Heading ball 'likely' contributed to Gordon McQueen's brain injury, coroner finds

This is so concerning 🤕. I mean, 16 years in football? That's a long time to be taking hits on the head. And he was relatively injury-free too... it just doesn't add up 🙃. But at the same time, you can see how it would happen now that we know more about CTE and all that.

I'm not saying it's definitely his fault or anything, but I do think footballers need to be more careful with their heads on the pitch. All these changes to the rules and technology are a good start, but what about before? What about the players who came before him?

And can we talk about how they're studying this stuff now? Like, what happened to all those old brains from the '70s and '80s? How do we even know if our ancestors were susceptible to this too? 🤔

you know its sad to think about gordon mcqueen goin thru that but at least hes brain is helpin to help others 🤕💀 its crazy how much we learn from athletes who played the game a long time ago, still gettin diagnosed with cte 50 years later 👍 these studies gotta keep comin so we can make sure somethin like this dont happen to anyone els again 💪

🤕 you gotta feel bad for gordon mcqueen's family, ya know? losing their dad like that is never easy, but addin' in the fact that he might've been puttin' himself at risk with all them head impacts on the pitch... it's just crazy 🤯. and now we got this whole thing with CTE, it's like, we're startin' to understand how brain injuries can affect people, but what about all the others who played football back in the day? did they get diagnosed or just lived with it? gotta keep pushin' for more research and support for these athletes 🤝
