High surf advisory issued for Bay Area Shorelines for Friday and Saturday – waves of 17 to 22 feet predicted

High surf advisory issued for Bay Area shorelines, with waves predicted to reach up to 22 feet. The National Weather Service has warned of hazardous conditions, including sneaker waves and strong rip currents, which could lead to significant physical injury or even drowning.

Residents and visitors are advised to stay away from the beach during this time, particularly when surfing or engaging in other water activities. Jetties, piers, rocks, and other waterside infrastructure pose a high risk of pulling people into the sea without warning.

Swimmers should remain out of the water and avoid turning their back on the ocean at any cost. The large breaking waves could overpower swimmers, resulting in serious injury or even loss of life.

The advisory is effective from Friday morning until Saturday night, and residents are urged to exercise caution when venturing outdoors during this time. Large waves are expected to hit coastal areas, including Point Reyes National Seashore, San Francisco Peninsula Coast, Northern Monterey Bay, Southern Monterey Bay, and Big Sur Coast.

omg dont even think about hitting the beach in bay area this wkend!!! 🌊😱 22 ft waves? yikes! i was really looking forward to catching some gnarly waves at point reyes but safety first, you know? 🤦‍♀️ theyre warning about sneaker waves and strong rip currents... no way do i wanna be that guy who gets pulled out to sea 🌊😨. just staying home with a good book and a cuppa sounds like the perfect plan to me 📚☕

🌊🚨 omg isnt it crazy how we still have such powerful natural forces that can be a total game changer in a split sec and yet our beaches are still basically a 'be careful' kinda situation 🤦‍♀️. I mean dont get me wrong the gov is doing its part to warn ppl but its just not like they're telling us the full extent of the risks 🌴. what i wish they'd do is also invest more in coastal infrastructure so we can build safer piers and jetties that actually work instead of being just a hazard 🌈. and can we pls talk about how ppl who dont surf or swim are still affected by these huge waves? its not like they're the only ones at risk 😟. anyway gotta be careful out there this wkend 🤞

🌊😱 22 feet is crazy! I'm not surprised people getting hurt out there, those sneaker waves can pop up at any time. Stay away from the beach, trust me. My cousin went surfing last year and got swept away by a rogue wave 🤯. He's lucky to be alive. Point Reyes is usually gorgeous but not worth the risk right now. I'm planning on sticking indoors on Friday and Saturday, no beach day for me 😂.

I'm worried about these surfers, dude! 🤯 22-foot waves are no joke! I mean, I get it, some people need to be out there catching some gnarly waves, but come on, the conditions are sketchy at best. Sneaker waves and strong rip currents can be deadly, you know? It's like, we should all just chill at home with a cuppa instead of risking our necks on the beach.

And don't even get me started on those jetties and piers... they're like death traps waiting to happen! If someone gets pulled in by one of those things, it's game over, man. I'm not saying people can't be careful, but some of these surf spots are just not worth the risk.

I wish more people would listen to this advisory and stay safe, you know? It's always better to err on the side of caution when it comes to the ocean. Let's all just take a deep breath and hope everyone gets through this without any major incidents 🤞.

🌊🚨 I'm telling ya, this is no coincidence! A bunch of weather agencies warning us about massive surf waves on the same day as... let's just say, a certain major tech conference in the Bay Area 🤝 Those big waves are gonna be like a metaphor for the "tides" of change, dude 🌊💡 Or maybe it's just an excuse to get people out of the city and away from all the shiny new gadgets and whatnot 📱👀 I'm not buying it. There's something more sinister at play here...

omg is it going to be that rough? i just wanna grab some fish n chips by the beach 🍟🏖️ but if there's gonna be like 22ft waves idk... my friend went surfing in cali last year and she said it was so cool but also super scary 😬 do u think they should put up those barriers to stop people from swimming? i mean, its just common sense 🤔 btw has anyone tried those new ocean-friendly snacks that are all the rage on instagram? 🌊

😬 OMG, like, don't even think about hitting the beach in Cali right now!!! 22 feet is crazy! I'm from Bay Area and I know how strong those waves can get. Sneaker waves are no joke 🌊👀 and rip currents can pull you out in a split second. If you're gonna surf or just chill by the water, stay far away. Don't even think about turning your back on that ocean, it's just not worth it 🙅‍♀️. Let's all be safe out there and enjoy this from the shore 😌.

🌊 Ugh, can't believe they're still using that ' advisory' language instead of just saying ' Warning: don't go near the beach! 🚨'. Like, come on National Weather Service, make up your mind already! 🤦‍♂️ Either it's a warning or it's not. I'm getting tired of these vague warnings that only serve to confuse people like me who actually want to plan ahead... 😒

Dude, I don't think people are taking this surf advisory seriously enough... like, 22 feet is crazy high! You'd be lucky if you didn't get knocked off your board or swept out to sea by a sneaker wave 🌊🚨. And no way should anyone turn their back on the ocean during these conditions - that's just asking for trouble! I've seen people surfing in smaller waves, and even they get caught out when the surf gets too rough... this is a whole different story. Stay home, folks, or at least stick to shore breaks if you do decide to go out 🤦‍♂️. And can we please make sure everyone knows about the jetties and piers? That's just asking for someone to get pulled in by a rock or something... it's like, basic common sense 🙄

Ugh, like, I'm not even a fan of surfing, but this is wild 🤯! 22 feet is crazy, I mean, what if you're just trying to catch some waves with your mates? The thought of sneaker waves pulling you under is super scary 🌊😱. And the rip currents? Forget about it, that's just a nightmare waiting to happen 😨.

I'm not sure how people who live around those areas will deal with this. Like, if I was gonna go out there, I'd be freaked out just thinking about it 🤦‍♂️. The warning signs are clear, so yeah, stay away from the beach, even if you're a surfer dude at heart 😎. Your life is more important than getting that sick wave 🏄‍♂️.

I hope everyone stays safe and sounds off this crazy weather 👍. No need to be out there when it's not worth it 💦

🌊😬 just got a bit worried thinkin about all those ppl headed out to the beach this weekend... i mean, 22 feet is some serious waves 🤯 gotta respect the ocean's power, y'know? all that sneaker wave and rip current stuff sounds super scary. hope everyone stays safe & sound at home instead 🏠💕

🌊😬 I dont think people learn from warning signs 🙅‍♂️? Like how many times gotta be said stay away from strong waves or get pulled out by rocks?! 🤯 It's not just about surfing or swimming, it's about being aware of your surroundings and taking care of yourself when you're near the ocean. 🌴

🤯 22 feet of crazy waves! I mean, I've lived in the Bay Area my whole life and I've never seen surf advisories like this. I'm just glad that everyone's being told to stay away from the beach. Can you even imagine trying to swim with those kinds of waves? 🏊‍♀️😱 I know some people who are gonna be super disappointed if they can't catch a wave, but safety first, you know? The jetties and piers are like, totally sketchy too. I've seen guys get pulled out to sea by the riptide before and it's no joke. 🌊😬 Let's just hope everyone stays safe and sound until these crazy waves pass.

🌊 ugh, I'm so worried about people hitting the beach this wknd! 22ft waves? that's crazy! 🤯 I mean, i know some ppl love surfing, but safety first, right? 🙏 those sneaker waves can be deadly and strong rip currents are no joke. I've seen vids of ppl getting sucked out from under jetties before, it's terrifying. 🌊 let's all just stay away from the beach til the advisory is lifted, 'kay? 🤞

🌊😬 oh noooo... these big waves sound super scary 🤯! i dont think its a good idea for people to be in the water right now 🚫. those sneaker waves can pop up out of nowhere and sweep you away 💦. my friend just went surfing last week and he said the waves were pretty rough 😩. i would def stay on dry land till this storm passes ⛈️. its not worth the risk to try and surf or swim 🏊‍♂️. lets all just be safe at home with a hot cuppa ☕️ and watch the waves from afar 📺.

Oh man, 22 feet is like a skyscraper, right? I mean, I've seen some big waves in my time, but this is just crazy! 🤯 They're saying people could get pulled out to sea by a jettie without warning... that's like something from a horror movie! 😱 And don't even get me started on sneaker waves - I'm pretty sure my surfing skills would end with a big fat wipeout if I tried to surf in this mess. 🤦‍♂️

I mean, who wants to risk life and limb for some fun in the sun when you can just stay home and binge-watch Netflix instead? 😂 But seriously, gotta respect Mother Nature's power, right? Maybe we should all just take a step back, enjoy the view from afar, and let the surfers handle it. Or better yet, invest in some serious wave-riding gear! 🏄‍♂️🌊

🌊😬 I'm not a fan of these super high surf advisories, it's like they're begging you to stay away from the beach 🤦‍♀️. I mean, I love surfing as much as the next person, but when the warnings are this clear, you've gotta listen up ⚠️. Those sneaker waves can be deadly and I don't want anyone getting caught off guard or hurt 🌊😨. And yeah, jetties and piers can be super sketchy too, it's like they're just waiting to rip you out of the water 😳. I'm definitely staying on land this weekend, no beach trips for me 👎.

🌊 omg guys! i cant even right now... 22 feet of waves?! that's crazy talk! i'm all about catching some sick tubes at the beach, but not when its gonna be that rough lol. i mean, i've had some gnarly wipeouts in my time, but this sounds like something out of a movie. sneaker waves and strong rip currents? no thank you! 🙅‍♂️ i'm just gonna stay indoors with a good book and a warm cuppa while the surfers out there are trying to navigate that beast of a wave 📖💡

Ugh, beach days in 2025? More like beach avoidances 🏖️😬 I mean, I get it, Mother Nature's all like "Hey, kiddos! Let's have a party with some gnarly waves!" But honestly, 22 feet is just crazy talk. What's next, giant squids popping out of the ocean or something? 🐙 Anyway, I guess it's better to be safe than sorry, right? Stay away from those beaches, folks. It's not like you're gonna find a sunburn and some mediocre wave-riding pics on Instagram to make up for it 😂. Jetties and piers are basically just giant deathtraps, just waiting to yank you in with a sneaker wave 🌊😱. So yeah, let's all just play it safe this weekend... or whenever the surf advisory lifts 🤞
