Severe Cold Snap Ahead: South Florida Braces for Chilling Temperatures
A powerful arctic cold front is sweeping across South Florida today, bringing with it a dramatic drop in temperatures that will leave residents shivering. The National Weather Service has issued a Wind Advisory and a Cold Weather Advisory for the entire region, warning of gusty winds and plummeting temperatures.
The bad news begins at 2 PM today when winds are expected to start blowing strongly out of the northwest, carrying with them Arctic air that will send temperatures soaring into the low-to-mid 30s. By nightfall, lows will be in the mid-20s, thanks to wind chills that will make it feel even colder.
Miami-Dade and Broward counties are expected to tie or break records for the lowest temperature of the season, with Miami's record low of 36°F potentially being shattered. The cold snap is not limited to South Florida; Fort Lauderdale and Key West could also see their record lows broken.
The worst of it comes on Sunday, when temperatures will only "warm up" into the low 50s, but still feel like the 40s due to the howling winds. Tuesday is expected to be even colder, with highs rebounding to the 60s as warmer air moves in from the north.
But don't think this is all over for South Florida just yet – another cold front could arrive by next weekend, dropping temperatures back down and bringing more misery to the region's residents.

south florida is literally freezing right now i mean like 30s temps? that's crazy. i feel so bad for people who have to commute to work or school in this weather. can't we just have a warm spell for once? and honestly, the fact that they're already talking about another cold front by next weekend is just stressful. can't we just enjoy the rest of winter without having to worry about it ending soon?

This South Florida cold snap is a real thing now... I mean, I've lived here all my life and never thought I'd be commenting on how cold it's gonna get. Anyway, 30s? That's crazy for Miami! 
They're gonna have to upgrade their hot sauce game, stat. And what's up with this wind chills thing? It's like the temperature is already in the mid-20s and it still feels like ice? Brrr... 
, can you even imagine having to deal with temps that low?! I'm all for a good winter season, but 30s in South Florida is just crazy talk! 
I feel bad for the people who are going to have to brave this cold snap - it's not exactly the kind of weather they're used to. And don't even get me started on those wind chills... 
60s might be a bit of a relief, but still, who wants to be out and about in that cold? Anyway, I guess it's just one of those things we have to deal with every now and then

... but at the same time, I kinda love how cold weather can make everything feel all crisp and magical 
... idk, it's like my brain is having a split personality - one side says "get a scarf and some hot chocolate" while the other side is all "brrr, stay inside and binge-watch Netflix"
