Hubble Observes Ghostly Cloud Alive with Star Formation

The Hubble Space Telescope has captured a stunning image of the Lupus 3 star-forming cloud, located about 500 light-years away in the constellation Scorpius. The eerie picture, which appears ghostly at first glance, is actually teeming with new life.

White wisps of gas swirl through the region, while a dark dust cloud can be seen in the lower-left corner near a bright T Tauri star. Other young stellar objects are scattered throughout the image, showcasing the dynamic and ever-changing nature of star formation.

T Tauri stars are in the early stages of their development, where they contract under gravity to become main sequence stars that fuse hydrogen into helium in their cores. By studying these stars, astronomers can gain a deeper understanding of the complex process of star birth.

The Hubble Space Telescope is constantly producing new images, with fresh ones appearing every day between January 12th and 17th, 2026. Follow @NASAHubble on social media to stay up-to-date with the latest Hubble images and news.

New images are added daily, so be sure to follow us for regular updates.

๐Ÿ”ญ๐ŸŒ  OMG have you seen that new pic of the Lupus 3 star-forming cloud?! It's like something straight outta Interstellar ๐Ÿ˜ฎ! All those wisps of gas and dark dust swirling around - it's like a cosmic dance ๐Ÿ’ƒ๐Ÿ•บ. And to think we're actually learning more about how stars are born ๐Ÿค”... it's like we're getting a sneak peek into the universe's biggest blockbuster movie ever ๐ŸŽฅ. Can't wait for those daily new pics from Hubble, gonna be my go-to social media spot from Jan 12th onwards ๐Ÿ“†๐Ÿ‘€

omg can you believe how cool this new image of Lupus 3 is?? i mean its like looking at a ghostly galaxy or something but actually its teeming with life! thats so wild. and the way they captured the movement of all these gas wisps and stars is insane. its like we're getting a glimpse into the universe's own cosmic dance.

i dont know what im gonna do when i have to wait till january 2026 for new pics tho lol. my social media feed needs some space, but at the same time ill be glued to it trying to keep up with all these fresh images ๐Ÿš€๐Ÿ’ซ

omg, can u even imagine how cool it is to see life forms in space lol, like we literally have a giant window to the universe and it's just full of mysteries waiting to be solved ๐Ÿคฏ๐Ÿš€. this lupus 3 thingy looks so otherworldly, like something out of a sci-fi movie. and i love how they're studying these t tauri stars, trying to figure out the deal with star birth. 500 light-years away and yet it feels so close, you know? the fact that new images are popping up daily is just amazing, can't wait to see what other secrets hubble uncovers ๐Ÿ“ธ๐Ÿ’ซ

omg u gotta see this image of lupus 3 its like something out of a sci-fi movie all that gas and dust is just floating there like a ghostly nebula ๐Ÿคฏ but its not ghostly at all theres actually lots of new life forming there like, u know when ur in the shower and the water's all swirly and stuff? thats kinda what this looks like except instead of water it's stars and gas ๐ŸŒ  i mean i get why ppl would think it's eerie or whatever but to me its just...wow. also didnt u no that tauri stars are like, super important for usin our telescopes? they're like the youngins of the star world still figuring out who they r and what they wanna be ๐ŸŒŸ

๐Ÿ”ญ Just saw this pic of Lupus 3 and I'm seriously in awe! The way those white wisps are swirling through space is like nothing I've ever seen before ๐ŸŒŒ. It's crazy to think that there's new life happening right before our eyes, even though it's all happening so far away ๐Ÿ˜ฒ. And can you believe we're actually learning more about star formation by studying these young stars? Mind blown! I love how the Hubble Space Telescope is constantly sharing new images - it's like a never-ending surprise ๐ŸŽ‰. Can't wait to see what other cool pics come out in 2026! ๐Ÿ’ซ

OMG ๐Ÿคฉ I'm literally DYING over this new pic from the Hubble Space Telescope!!! 500 light-years away and it's still giving me CHILLS!!! Can you believe there's NEW LIFE in that Lupus 3 star-forming cloud?!?! It's like, the universe is still full of mysteries and surprises! And T Tauri stars are just so COOL ๐Ÿค“ I mean, who wouldn't wanna be a main sequence star one day?!? I'm totally glued to my screen for those new daily pics from Jan 12-17 '26 ๐Ÿ“ธ๐Ÿ”

๐Ÿคฏ I'm low-key obsessed with this new pic from the Hubble Space Telescope! It's like, totally mesmerizing how these tiny stars are popping up in the middle of that gas cloud. I mean, it's like nature's own fireworks display ๐ŸŽ‡. The fact that we can study these early stages of star formation is like, super cool. It makes me think about how our whole universe came to be and how we're all connected to it in some way ๐ŸŒŒ.

just saw the latest pics from the Hubble Space Telescope and I'm blown away by that Lupus 3 star-forming cloud ! ๐Ÿคฏ it looks like a ghostly galaxy or something but the fact that there's actual new life happening in there is just mind-blowing to me . as a parent, I love learning about the universe and how everything came together, and it's amazing to think that these tiny stars are basically like our own solar system all over again ๐ŸŒŸ๐Ÿ’ซ can't wait to see more pics like this! ๐Ÿ˜

OMG u guyz its like whoa!! ๐Ÿคฏ I cant even handle how beautiful that star-forming cloud looks ๐ŸŒ ๏ธ! Im literally in awe of the whole thing... I mean, those white wisps of gas and that dark dust cloud look like they were drawn on by some celestial artist ๐ŸŽจ๐Ÿ”ฅ. And can u believe its only 500 light-years away?! We r so lucky to be able to see it all thanks to the Hubble Space Telescope ๐Ÿ’ซ! Im already following @NASAHubble on social media just so i can keep up with new images ๐Ÿ“ธ๐Ÿ’•... this is defo one of the coolest space discoveries ever! ๐Ÿ˜

OMG u gotta see this new pic of Lupus 3! its like a ghostly gas cloud just chillin in space ๐Ÿค–๐Ÿ˜ฒ and theres these tiny stars poppin up everywhere like fireworks ๐ŸŽ‡๐Ÿ”ฅ i mean, who needs hubble when we got the universe to show us how crazy beautiful it is? btw, why do we still need space telescopes? cant we just, like, observe from Earth or something? ๐Ÿ˜‚

I'm not convinced about these space telescopes, they're just giving us pretty pictures of clouds and stuff... I mean, what's the point? We can't even take a decent selfie without some AI editing messing it up. ๐Ÿค” And now you're telling me that we need to study T Tauri stars to learn more about star birth? That's just a fancy way of saying "we want to know how to make more stars" ๐ŸŒŸ. What's next, sending robots to Mars to do some space gardening? ๐Ÿš€

I'm not convinced about this whole space telescope thing ๐Ÿค”. I mean, we're still using these massive machines to capture pics of clouds from like, 500 light-years away... what's the point? Can't they just zoom in on our local issues instead of getting all starry-eyed? ๐ŸŒ

And what's with all these new life discoveries?! We've got our own problems right here on Earth and scientists are off chasing after some distant, swirling gas thingy. Don't get me wrong, it's pretty to look at, but I'd rather see them focus on sustainable energy and infrastructure ๐Ÿ’ก.

I also don't buy into the hype about these T Tauri stars being like, super important for understanding star birth... how does that even relate to our daily lives? ๐Ÿคทโ€โ™‚๏ธ

๐Ÿ˜ฎ I mean, can you believe how cool this new image is?! The way the gas wisps look like ghostly fingers reaching out into space, it's like something straight out of a sci-fi movie ๐Ÿš€! And that dark dust cloud? It's like a mystery waiting to be solved. I love how the T Tauri stars are scattered throughout, it's like they're all trying to tell us their secrets ๐Ÿ’ซ.

And the best part is, we can learn so much from these young stars. They're like little labs for astronomers to study the birth of new stars and galaxies ๐Ÿงฌ. I'm definitely following @NASAHubble on social media to see what other amazing images they come up with ๐Ÿ“ธ!

omg i just saw this pic of Lupus 3 and it's literally mind-blowing ๐Ÿคฏ the way those white wisps look like they're swirling around or something is so mesmerizing... i mean, can you believe we get to see star-forming clouds up close? it's like we're witnessing a whole new world being born ๐Ÿ’ฅ

and did you know that T Tauri stars are basically the precursors to main sequence stars? like, they're the baby stages of stars and stuff ๐Ÿค“ i'm curious to learn more about how astronomers study these young stars to get a better understanding of the star birth process... does anyone know any good resources for learning more about this? ๐Ÿค”

This image is giving me LIFE! ๐ŸŒ ๏ธโœจ I love how it's showing all these wispy gas clouds and a dark dust cloud - it's like a cosmic dance party up in here! ๐Ÿ˜ And can we talk about the T Tauri stars? They're like little baby stars, just starting to get their act together. It's so cool to see them in action.

I'm also loving how Hubble is constantly pushing out new images. Like, who even has time for that?! ๐Ÿคฃ But seriously, it's amazing what these telescopes can capture. I'm definitely going to be following @NASAHubble on social media to stay up-to-date with all the latest pics.

This image is reminding me of that famous diagram I drew last week about how stars are born... ๐ŸŽจ๏ธ๐Ÿ’ก Okay, so basically you start with a giant cloud of gas and dust, then gravity kicks in and it starts collapsing. Boom! New star is born! ๐Ÿ”ฅ It's like magic, right?
