I Do review – immersive hotel drama as wonderful as a real wedding day

I Do is more than just another wedding drama – it's an immersive experience that delves into the messy emotional lives of its characters, making it a truly unforgettable show.

The play, created by Daphna Attias and Terry O'Donovan, takes us on a journey through the final 10 minutes before Georgie (Carla Langley) and Tunde (Dauda Ladejobi) tie the knot. What initially appears to be an exercise in voyeuristic humor soon turns into a poignant portrayal of anguish and insecurity. As we shuttle between six rooms, each representing a different scenario, we're treated to a world that's both familiar and foreign.

From Georgie's mother, Helen (Johanne Murdock), navigating a painful reunion with her unfaithful ex-husband, David (Jonathan McGuinness), to the tender yet awkward moments shared by Tunde with his best man Joe (Manish Gandhi), each scene masterfully weaves together themes of love, regret, and longing. The writing, penned by Chloë Moss, is razor-sharp, effortlessly conveying the complexities of human emotions.

The production design by Jenny Hayton cleverly balances the sterile corporate environment of the hotel with the personal, emotional detritus of its inhabitants – it's a testament to the show's ability to capture the messy reality of real life. Attias' direction is meticulous, allowing for moments of stillness and quiet contemplation that reveal the depth of our characters' emotions.

One of the most striking aspects of I Do is its ability to build relationships with its audience, making us care for almost every character by the end. It's a big, heart-wrenching, ridiculous, and wonderful show – an authentic portrayal of love in all its messy, imperfect glory.

As we watch Georgie and Tunde prepare to embark on their journey together, we're reminded that even the most seemingly perfect days can hold secrets and surprises. I Do may not be a traditional wedding drama, but it's one that will leave you feeling seen, heard, and perhaps even a little bit wiser about love itself.

omg i just watched this play i do and tbh it was SO good 🤩🎭 the writing is insane! like it really gets into the characters' heads and makes you feel all the feels... from anxiety to happiness, it's all there 💯 and the production design is mindblown 😲 how they made each room feel so different and yet connected at the same time is just genius 🤓 the actors are amazing too! i was literally invested in their stories by the end of it 🙌 love how it shows love isn't always perfect, but it's still worth fighting for ❤️ can't wait to see what they do next 😆

🌎 I'm obsessed with this show, it's like they're speaking straight to your soul! The way it explores the messy emotions of its characters is so relatable, it's like they're living in our shoes too 😂. And that production design? 💥 Mind blown, it's like stepping into a whole different world. I love how it balances the corporate setting with the personal drama that's going on behind the scenes. The writing and directing are top notch, it's clear they know what they're doing 🙌. But what really gets me is how it makes you care for every single character by the end. It's like, you can't help but root for Georgie and Tunde, even when things get tough 💕. And that finale? Forget about it, I was bawling my eyes out 😭. It's just one of those shows that gets everything right, love, heartbreak, and all the feels in between ❤️.

I mean, I gotta disagree with this whole "immersive experience" thing... it sounds like just an excuse to watch people get all emotional and stuff on stage 🙄. I'm not saying it can't be good, but "unforgettable show"? Come on, that's a pretty high bar to set for a wedding drama 😂. And don't even get me started on the whole "building relationships with its audience" thing... if you're gonna make me care about a bunch of strangers, at least give 'em some decent backstories 🤔.

And what's up with this obsession with "love in all its messy, imperfect glory"? Can't we just have a show that's, like, happy and uplifting for once? 😒 I mean, I'm sure the writing is "razor-sharp" and all that jazz, but can we please just focus on something other than how flawed our main characters are? 🙃

OMG 🤯, I'm SO obsessed with this new play "I Do"!!! 👏 The way it dives into the emotional mess of its characters is EVERYTHING 💖. The special effects they used to create these 6 different rooms are CRAZY 🎩 and the acting? 💥 To Die For. I was literally on the edge of my seat during that part where Georgie's mom confronts her ex-husband 😱. And can we talk about the writing? 🔥 Chloë Moss is a GENIUS 💫 for capturing all those complex emotions so perfectly. The set design is also EVERYTHING 🏠, it's like you're right there with them in that hotel room 🤩. I swear, this show will make you laugh and cry and feel all the feels 🎬. It's not just a play about love, it's a wild ride through human emotions 💥!

omg u guyz i just watched this new play called I Do and i gotta say its SO GOOD!!! 🤩 the way they portray the characters emotions is so raw & real u can literally feel their anxiety & fear as they navigate the last 10 mins of their wedding day it makes u think about ur own relationships & how we all show up differently in them. and omg the production design is insane! i love how they wove together these different scenes in this sterile hotel setting it feels like u r right there with them in the messy emotional chaos. anyway just watchin this play has made me feel more seen & less alone in my own relationship struggles 💕

🎭💕 oh man i just saw this show and it was soooo emotional i loved how they showed the messy emotional lives of the characters especially the scenes where georgie's mom is trying to have a conversation with her ex hubby david it was like u can feel the tension and anger from both sides 🤯

and omg tunde's interactions with joe were so awkward and sweet at the same time 😂👫 i loved how they made you care for all the characters by the end of the show it felt so real

i also loved the production design it was like u could just step into the hotel and feel the emotions of the characters 🏨💔

the writing was so sharp and the direction was perfection whoever directed this show deserves a ton of credit i'm still thinking about the ending days after watching it 😭🎬

the way they show Georgie's anxiety is so relatable 🤯 I remember my own feelings of uncertainty before getting married... anyway back to i do, the production design is fire 🔥 it feels like you're actually in those six rooms with the characters. and omg chloë moss' writing is like butter for your soul 💘 but what really got me was how they made me care about joe's character too 🤝 he's not even the main guy, but his storyline just tugged at my heartstrings.

I just watched this play "I Do" and I gotta say it was super emotional 💔. The way the show makes you feel like you're peeking into people's private moments is crazy unsettling 😳. But at the same time, it's so real, you can't help but connect with all the characters. I loved how each room represented a different scenario, it felt like a puzzle trying to figure out what was going on 🤯. The writing and acting were top notch too - I especially loved the way the set design blended corporate and personal spaces 🏨👥. It's definitely a show that'll make you feel all the feels 😭. What did you guys think of it?

🤯 i loved how this show explores the darker side of relationships, you know, the parts we don't always talk about in polite conversation. like, what happens when we're trying to put on this perfect facade for everyone's sake? 🤷‍♀️ and the way they balanced the sterile corporate environment with the characters' personal emotions was genius 💡 it felt so real, like you were right there with them in those six rooms 🏠 but what really got me was how it made me feel... like i'm not alone in my own emotional mess 😂🤝

🤔 this show is defo making me feel all the feels! i love how it doesn't shy away from the messy emotions of the characters - it's like they're having a real conversation with us, you know? 🤗 and that production design tho... it's like they took all the imperfections of life and put them on display. 💡 i'm hooked from minute one and i need to know what happens next. 📺

🤯 This show is EVERYTHING - emotional depth, sharp writing, & relatable characters. The production design is on point too 🏨💼. I'm still thinking about the characters' backstories... need to rewatch ASAP 😩
