Maddy Cusack, the 27-year-old former women's team captain of Sheffield United, died suddenly in September last year. The club has denied deliberately delaying her inquest into her death.
The case is set to be pushed back until June this year after the family claimed that pressure had been put on Cusack by "processes and conduct" at the club, including allegations over the behaviour of former manager Jonathan Morgan. Sheffield United's lawyers have responded, saying they rejected any suggestion of non-compliance with their obligations.
In autumn last year, Cusack's sister Olivia discussed the impact of the inquest delays, describing it as the "biggest thing that's ever happened" and explaining that her family struggled to picture Maddy at peace. The full collection of documents to be used in the inquest totals over 1,000 pages, with more than 20 witnesses set to give evidence.
Cusack played for Sheffield United Women from 2020 to 2023 before joining Leicester City on a one-year deal. Morgan coached Cusack during her time at Leicester but was sacked by Sheffield United last February after "new information" regarding his behaviour with players at previous clubs emerged.

they r sayin that she died bcz of pressure from her club and now its changin the inquest date 2 june! like whaaat? she was only 27 lol what kinda stress can kill a girl dat young?! 
i feel so bad 4 her fam, especially her sis Olivia who's still tryna cope w/ this tragedy. 
ugh the club is sayin they r innocent but lmao who knows what really went down?

I don't know what's more frustrating, the delay in the inquest or the fact that everyone's being so secretive about it... like, come on, Maddy was a human being who died suddenly and her family deserves some answers 
. The club says they're not delaying it on purpose, but if there's pressure coming from someone, shouldn't we know? 
It's just hard to understand why so much information is being kept under wraps... 1,000 pages of documents? That's a lot of stuff 
. And what about Maddy's teammates and coaches? Don't they have any info to share? 
I guess we'll just have to wait until July for the inquest to start

it's just not right that Maddy Cusack is still going through this - 1,000 pages of documents and 20 witnesses to testify... that's so much pressure on her family to keep waiting for answers 
And all this drama with Jonathan Morgan and his past behaviour? Like, isn't that something they should've taken care of before she passed away? 
Can't believe the club is denying any wrongdoing... I mean, what if there's some truth to those allegations? It'd be good if we got to the bottom of it all 
. And poor Olivia Cusack having to go through this? My heart goes out to her and Maddy's family

this is just getting messy... like, i get it, there's pressure and whatnot, but 1k pages of docs? that's just a lot to sift through. and witnesses, yeah, that's gonna be tough on the family, esp if they're already struggling with grief 
she was such an awesome player and her family is still dealing with all this emotional pain 
June can't come soon enough for them, I hope they get some answers soon

I mean, what if they find out that there was really foul play involved? 
anyway, I just hope justice is served for Maddy and her fam
