Man Survives Tornado in His Van, Says 'It Was Like Riding a Rollercoaster'

In a harrowing account of survival, Cody Coombes recounted his experience riding out a tornado in Little Rock, Arkansas, inside his pest control van. The EF-3 tornado that ripped through Pulaski and Lonoke counties on April 2 left one person dead in North Little Rock and four others in Wynne.

According to Coombes, the sudden storm caught him off guard, but he quickly sought shelter in his vehicle, a specially equipped van designed for pest control. "It was like riding a rollercoaster," he said, describing the intense experience. The winds were so strong that trees swayed violently and debris flew through the air.

The National Weather Service reported peak winds of 165 mph during the tornado's passage. Coombes' van was able to withstand the extreme conditions, allowing him to ride out the storm in relative safety.

Despite the terror of being caught in the tornado's path, Coombes expressed gratitude for his quick thinking and the protection of his vehicle. "I feel really fortunate that I was able to get inside my van and wait it out," he said.

The incident serves as a stark reminder of the dangers of severe weather and the importance of seeking shelter immediately when a tornado warning is issued. The full video of Coombes' account can be seen on CNN's website.

omg i cant even imagine being in that situation 🤯... like, how did he not get hurt more seriously? his van was designed for pest control lol 😂, but still what a crazy experience! riding a rollercoaster is one thing, but actual tornadoes are on whole different level 🌀... 165mph winds?!?! thats insane 💥... glad he made it out alive and with only emotional scars 🙏, but yeah its super important to be prepared for those kinds of emergencies 🚨💡

Dude, I'm still shook just thinking about that! Riding out a tornado in a van sounds like something straight out of a movie 🤯. I mean, the fact that Cody Coombes was able to survive with his life is nothing short of incredible. His van must have been super equipped for this kind of situation - it's crazy that he had that kind of preparedness.

It's also a huge relief that he was able to stay safe and unscathed. I can only imagine how terrifying it must have been to be caught in the middle of such a powerful storm 🌪️. The National Weather Service reports those 165mph winds, though... no wonder it felt like riding a rollercoaster 😱.

The thing is, this incident really highlights just how unpredictable severe weather can be. It's always good to take those tornado warnings seriously and seek shelter ASAP ⛈️. We're lucky that Cody made some quick decisions to save his life - we should all learn from this experience and prioritize our safety during extreme weather conditions 💡.

OMG, I'm still shakin' thinking about that crazy tornado story! 🤯 I mean, riding a rollercoaster with 165mph winds? 😱 That's insane! Glad Cody's van held up and he was safe in there. It's so scary when you hear the sirens and don't know what to do. You gotta take those warnings seriously and get inside ASAP. I'm definitely gonna check on my own emergency kit just in case something like that happens again 🚨💡

OMG, I'm shakin' just thinkin about this 😱 what a crazy way to get outta a tornado!!! I mean, I've heard of people hidin' in their cars before, but ridin' it like a rollercoaster? That's insane! 🤯 Cody Coombes is one lucky dude, for sure. I'm glad he was prepared and had that van with him - it sounds like it really saved his life. And can you even imagine the fear of bein' stuck in there with all those strong winds goin' on? 😬 anyway, just another reminder to always keep an eye out for those weather warnings, folks! Stay safe out there 🙏

🤯 So what really went down in that van? I mean, we know it was an EF-3 tornado, which is super intense, but that van being specifically designed for pest control... sounds like a coincidence to me 🐜💡 What if someone knew about the storm and just wanted to test the limits of that van? Or what if Cody Coombes was in on something big and he needed a safe place to wait it out? 🤔 I know, I'm not saying it's a cover-up or anything, but come on, what are the chances that van just happened to be the best shelter option in that area? 😏

Ugh, I'm still freaked out thinking about this 🤯! Like, what even is that? Riding a rollercoaster while trying to avoid getting killed 😱?! 165 mph winds are insane, dude! And poor guy had to wait it out in his van... I mean, I guess the pest control thing came in handy 🐜. I'm glad he's okay, though... can't imagine how scared he must've been 🤕. Reminds me of when Facebook was still a new thing and we'd get those crazy weather alerts on our mobiles 📱. Anyway, that van dude needs a medal for survival skills 💪!
