Mario Kart World Just Got a Whole Lot More Chaotic with its Latest Update.
Nintendo Switch 2's flagship title, Mario Kart World, just received a free update that shook things up in its Knockout Tour mode. No longer are solo drivers the only ones facing off against each other - now teams of two, eight, or six can take to the track and wreak havoc on their opponents.
With this new team option, the stakes have been significantly raised. Not only will individual drivers compete to finish ahead of their competitors, but they'll also be vying with their teammates to pool together enough points to emerge victorious. The scoring system has also been tweaked, with top finishers now pocketing a whopping 50 points, while those who don't make the cut can at least spectate and cheer on their comrades.
The good news is that team play doesn't require you to have an entire squadron of friends ready to join in - CPU drivers will fill the gaps if there aren't enough players around. And, as a bonus, eliminated drivers get to stick around and watch their teammates take center stage.
Hosting tournaments via local wireless or online play allows for seamless matches with either pals or random opponents, so you can test out your team skills on anyone from casuals to seasoned pros. I'm loving this new update! The addition of teams is a total game-changer for me, I mean, who doesn't love a good team dynamic on the track? 
It adds so much more strategy and depth to the game, you gotta keep an eye on both yourself and your teammate(s) to come out on top. Plus, it's great that CPU drivers will fill in when there aren't enough players, it really opens up the possibilities for playing with friends or solo.
