Melania review – Trump film is a gilded trash remake of The Zone of Interest

Brett Ratner's latest documentary "Melania" is a soulless, cringeworthy attempt to humanize the enigmatic First Lady, reducing her to a shallow caricature that fails to reveal any real substance or depth.

The film, which has been touted as a biographical exposé, feels more like a hollow exercise in self-promotion. The documentary follows Melania's preparations for her husband Donald Trump's second presidential inauguration, capturing the tedious details of her fashion fittings, table settings, and even her concern over a loose white blouse. However, beneath the surface of this trivializing portrayal lies a disturbing undercurrent of shallowness.

Melania's performance is listless and unengaging, delivering lines with all the passion and conviction of a sleepwalker. Her voice is akin to sheet metal, rendering her words devoid of emotional resonance or genuine human connection. The film's editing is similarly uninspired, moving through the action at a glacial pace that feels more like an endurance test than a cinematic experience.

One cannot help but draw parallels with Jonathan Glazer's "The Zone of Interest," which cleverly critiques the insidious power dynamics at play in Trump's administration. In contrast, "Melania" is more akin to a gilded trash remake of its predecessor – a superficial, designer-driven distraction that fails to illuminate or challenge anything meaningful.

Despite the film's pretensions to reveal something profound about Melania and her experiences as First Lady, it ultimately delivers a dispiriting, deadly, and spectacularly unrevealing experience. Even Trump makes a cursory appearance, boasting about his election win and complaining about the football game – an awkward and inconsequential cameo that serves only to underscore the film's lack of depth.

In the end, "Melania" feels like a hollow tribute to its subject, proffering little more than a shallow exercise in self-aggrandizement. Its star-studded premiere may have generated some buzz, but beneath the glamour lies a soulless, cringeworthy documentary that fails to deliver anything remotely meaningful or engaging.

I just watched this docu "Melania" and I'm so underwhelmed 🤕. It's like they took all the excitement out of Melania's life as First Lady and replaced it with... nothing 😒. The film is super shallow, focusing on her fashion choices and table settings instead of actually exploring what makes her tick. And don't even get me started on her performance - it's so listless I could fall asleep just watching her 🛋️. The whole thing feels like a giant exercise in self-promotion, more like a fancy trailer for a designer brand than an actual documentary 💼. Trump even shows up and it's just awkward... what's the point of that? 🤷‍♂️ Overall, I'd say "Melania" is a total disappointment 😒.

I'm still reeling from that Trump inauguration doc - "Melania" lol 😂 I mean what's next, a movie about Melania's favorite designer handbags? 🛍️ It feels like Brett Ratner just wanted to make a quick buck off the First Lady's name and didn't put in any real effort. And can we talk about that voice of hers? Sounds like she's singing an elevator pitch or something 😷 The film just goes on and on with all these boring details, it's like watching paint dry 🎨. I need someone to critique the director's editing style... is it too slow or what's up with that?! 🤯

Ugh, I just watched "Melania" and I'm still trying to pick my jaw up from the floor 😂🙄. Brett Ratner's documentary is like watching paint dry – it's so dull and uninspiring, even the most basic fashion moments feel like an eternity 🕰️💁‍♀️. And Melania's performance? Forget about it... she's got all the charisma of a sleepy sloth 🐻😴. I mean, what was the point of this whole thing, anyway? Did we really need to see her stressing over a loose blouse or whatever? It just feels like a shallow attempt to humanize someone who's already been shrouded in mystery... but honestly, it's more like they're trying to make us feel bad for Melania, rather than actually sharing any real insight into her life 🤔👀.

You know what gets me? The comparison to "The Zone of Interest" – that's a documentary that actually tries to do something meaningful with its subject matter. Meanwhile, "Melania" is just another shallow cash-grab 🤑💸. And don't even get me started on the Trump cameo... cringeworthy doesn't even begin to cover it 😳👀.

All in all, I'd give this trainwreck two thumbs way down 👎👎. Even if you're a die-hard Melania fan, there's just no excuse for how boring and shallow this documentary is 😴😒.

I just watched this movie "Melania" and I gotta say it was super disappointing 🤕... like, I feel bad for Melania, she's just not on screen long enough to even try to humanize her, and the film is all about style over substance 📸👗. The whole thing felt like a fancy party to me, everyone's having fun but no one's actually saying anything important 💃🏻. I mean, what was the point of this movie again? Was it just gonna make us feel better about Melania or something? 😒

omg u gotta see this doc "Melania" it's like they took every single fashion magazine and table setting pic of melania and stitched them together into a movie lol idk if its supposed 2 b biographical but its def not revealing any real substance or depth...and can we talk about melania's acting skills? 😂 her delivery sounds like she's sleepwalking thru life and the editing is so slow its like watching paint dry 💤 i mean jonathan glazer's "the zone of interest" is way more thought-provoking than this...anyway if u want 2 see a bunch of ppl complaining about fashion & politics but not really saying anything concrete then go watch "Melania" 🙄

Ugh, what's with these documentaries trying to make Melania Trump into something she's not? 🤷‍♀️ It's like they're just trying to fill up 90 minutes of screen time without actually saying anything interesting. And don't even get me started on the fashion stuff – who cares about a First Lady's outfits when you could be talking about what's really going on behind closed doors? 😒 The editing is super slow, it feels like they're trying to put us all to sleep. And that voice... 😴 I mean, I've heard more passion in a sleepy cat video. And the Trump cameo at the end? 🙄 What was that even for? Just some awkward soundbites about football and winning elections? Give me a break! 🤪
