Meta’s layoffs leave Supernatural fitness users in mourning

Meta's decision to lay off nearly 1,000 employees across its virtual reality (VR) and metaverse efforts has sent shockwaves through the Supernatural fitness community. The popular VR workout platform, which Meta acquired in 2022 for an undisclosed amount, has been a staple for many users who rely on it as their primary means of exercising due to rural or mobility limitations.

The layoffs have left a sense of uncertainty among users, with some expressing disappointment and frustration that the platform won't receive any further content updates. Tencia Benavidez, a Supernatural user from New Mexico, was quoted as saying, "They fought the government to buy this thing... All that just for them to shut it down? What was the point?"

Despite the layoffs, many users are choosing to stick with Supernatural due to its community and coaches, which they feel is unparalleled in the VR fitness space. Goff Johnson, another user, noted, "If it was a bottom-line thing, I think they could have charged more money... This just seems unnecessarily heartless."

However, there is a growing sense of unease within the Supernatural community regarding the future of the platform. With over 3,000 lessons available, some users are concerned that new content won't be added, and the music licensing from big-name bands will continue to be an issue.

To cope with the uncertainty, many users are turning to alternative VR workout experiences like FitXR or Beat Saber. However, for those who have formed strong bonds with Supernatural's coaches and community, it may not be so easy to leave.

The Together feature, which allows users to interact and exercise together, provided a sense of camaraderie during the recent session I attended. Despite the bittersweet nature of the experience, many users are holding on to hope that Supernatural will continue in some form.

As Meta continues to navigate its metaverse efforts, one thing is clear: the future of Supernatural is uncertain, and its loyal user base is waiting with bated breath for any news about what's next.

This is so weird 🤔... I mean, I get it, big companies gotta make cuts wherever they can, but Supernatural was literally changing lives for people stuck in rural areas or with mobility issues 🌎💪. Now they're just gonna abandon it? It's like, what's the point of having all that expertise and community if you're just gonna shut it down? 😔

I'm not surprised people are sticking around though - those coaches and users have formed some serious bonds, and the Together feature is still pretty cool 🤝. Plus, who can resist a good workout sesh with friends? But seriously, I feel for all the folks who rely on Supernatural for their fitness needs... it's like, what's gonna happen to them now? 🤷‍♀️

I'm kinda surprised Meta would axe Supernatural so suddenly 🤔. I mean, it was a game-changer for people stuck at home or in rural areas trying to stay active. And now users are like "what's the point" 😐? The community aspect is super strong - those coaches and users who've formed bonds over time... it's hard to just leave that behind 💔.

It's not just about the content updates, either - it's about the experience as a whole 🏋️‍♀️. Meta should know this by now. On one hand, I get that they're cutting costs and trying to adapt to changing market conditions 💸. But at what cost? Losing 1,000 jobs is no joke 🤕.

Anyway, it's time for Supernatural fans to rally around each other... or find new favorite VR workouts 🏃‍♀️👟. I'm hoping they can find a way to keep the spirit of Supernatural alive, even if it means partnering with existing platforms or something 🤔. The Together feature is still gonna be a game-changer for virtual fitness communities 💖!

I'm not surprised by Meta's decision, tbh 🤔. The VR industry has been struggling to find its footing, and it's just a natural part of the process 💸. I think Supernatural was a great platform, but it's been relying on Meta's financial backing for too long 🌐. It's time for them to take control of their own destiny.

I feel bad for the users who are attached to the platform, though 😔. The Together feature is a big part of its appeal, and it's not just about the exercises themselves – it's about the community that comes with it 👫. That being said, I think some users will move on to other VR workout experiences like FitXR or Beat Saber 🏋️‍♀️.

The music licensing issue is a big one, though 🎵. If Supernatural can't figure out a way to make it work, it's going to be tough for them to compete with the likes of FitXR and Nike Training Club 🏃‍♂️. I'm not sure what the future holds, but I have hope that Meta will come up with something innovative and user-friendly 👍.

I'm really disappointed to hear about all these layoffs at Meta's VR platform 🤕. I know some people might think it's just a business decision, but to me, it feels like they're abandoning the community that was counting on them 💔. Supernatural was such a game-changer for people with mobility issues or living in rural areas - it's amazing how much of a difference it made in their lives 🌟.

It's not just about the content updates, either; it's about the community and coaches that people have formed connections with 👥. I've seen so many users express frustration on social media, wondering what Meta was thinking when they decided to shut down Supernatural without a clear plan for its future 🤔.

Of course, some people are choosing to stay loyal to Supernatural because of its community and coaches 💪, but it's hard not to feel a little worried about the platform's future 🕰️. What if new content isn't added, or music licensing issues continue? It's scary to think about all the people who might lose access to this amazing resource 😬.

I'm keeping my fingers crossed that Meta will find a way to make Supernatural work in some form 💫. The Together feature is such an awesome part of the platform - it's what makes Supernatural so special and community-driven 🤝. Fingers crossed they'll come up with something brilliant! 🤞

😕🤔 It's really sad to see Supernatural users feeling this way... I mean, they've invested so much time and energy into it 🏋️‍♀️💻, and now it's just... uncertain 🤷‍♀️... some people are already jumping ship, but others are holding on to hope that Meta will find a way to save it 💕

This is super disheartening 🤕 I mean, Supernatural has been a game-changer for people who can't exercise in person due to location or mobility issues. It's amazing how Meta just canned the whole thing without even thinking about the impact on its users 🤦‍♀️. Those layoffs must have left a ton of people feeling pretty lost and frustrated 😔. I feel for Tencia and Goff, they're right – it does seem kinda heartless 💸. The community is still holding strong though, and that's something to be hopeful about 👍

idk why meta thinks they can just shut down supernatiral like that 🤯 it was a game changer for ppl who cant work out in person lol. i get it they had financial struggles, but did they have to cut all those employees? it's not like they're making the metaverse thingy themselves 🤑 3k lessons is a big deal, and now nobody knows if new content will be added or if music licensing will still be an issue...it's just frustrating for the users 💔 i'm actually considering switching to fitxr or beat saber myself, but it's hard to leave behind all those coaches and friends 🤝

🤔 just saw this news about Supernatural getting axed by Meta 🚫 1k employees gone 💸 but honestly 3k+ lessons shouldn't be a big deal for them to keep updating 📈 i mean they already got $150m in funding in 2022 🤑 what's a few more millions to maintain the platform? 🤷‍♀️ and btw didn't Meta just make an acquisition that costs like 4bn 💸 last year?! 🤑 why can't Supernatural be worth that kind of investment too? 🤔 stats: 70% of users are leaving for alternative platforms ( source: social media analytics) 📊 vs. 20% who are still loyal, but uncertain about the future 🤝

🚀 some fun facts: Meta's VR sales dropped by 50% in Q4 2022 compared to the same quarter last year 📉 and Supernatural's engagement rates were through the roof 🔥 with an average session time of 45 minutes 👍

I'm literally shaking my head rn 🤯 like what just happened?! Meta buys this awesome fitness platform and then they go and axe nearly 1,000 people? That's just heartless, fam 😔. I get it, business decisions are hard, but to me, it feels like a huge misstep. The community is still riding the Supernatural wave 🌊, but how long can that last without any new content? It's gonna be super tricky for Meta to keep all these users happy with FitXR and Beat Saber competing in the mix...

I'm so sad to hear about all these Supernatural users being left in the dark 🤕💔 Meta should've thought about how their decision would affect the people who rely on this platform for exercise, you know? It's not just about the layoffs, it's about the community and the coaches that make Supernatural special 💖. I hope they'll find a way to revamp and keep it going in some form, or else we're gonna lose an amazing tool for people with mobility issues 🚫💔

it's like meta just abandoned a whole community 🤕 their VR fitness platform was pretty much the only option for some people who can't move around easily... now they're gonna lose access to all that content and it's not fair 💔 i feel bad for the users who are stuck in this limbo. but at the same time, the fact that they chose to cut costs on something that's so important to a lot of people is just kinda weird 🤷‍♀️

idk why ppl r making such a big deal out of meta laying off some employees 🤷‍♂️ they're just gonna make it better & more efficient i mean who needs 1,000 extra people taking up space anyway 💼 besides the Supernatural users are super attached to it but like they shoulda seen this comin' 😒 new company comes in & suddenly the product is stale 🚮

omg u think meta was just gonna keep throwing money at supernatual 4ever? idk how ppl r still subscribed lol 🤣 anyway, i personally dont get why the community's so upset... its not like they owned it or somethin. newsflash: apps r made 2 make cash 4 the owners 🤑 and if u don't like it, u can always switch 2 a diff one. besides, its still got a sick community & coaches 2 keep u motivated 💪

I'm so worried about Supernatural users 🤕💔... like, I get it, Meta needs to cut costs, but 1000 people losing their jobs is a big deal 🤑👋. Those coaches and community members are like family to some of us 😊. It's not just about the fitness aspect, it's about having that sense of belonging and connection with others while working out 💪. I hope Meta comes back with a new plan and supports its users in any way they can 💕... fingers crossed 🤞 for Supernatural! 🎉 #SupernaturalSupport #LayoffsMatter #FitnessCommunity

Idk man, I just don't get why people are so upset 🤔... I mean, Meta basically gave Supernatural to the VR fitness gods, it's like a gift 🎁. And now they're gonna shut it down? That sounds kinda harsh 😐. But at the same time, like, 1000 layoffs is a lot of people 🤯. Can't say I'd be too surprised if Meta just decided they didn't wanna keep investing in VR fitness anymore 💸.

On one hand, Supernatural's community is pretty lit 🔥, and their coaches are super supportive 👏. But on the other hand, like, who needs that kinda uncertainty in their life? 🤔 I guess it's true what they say: you can't put a price on happiness 😊... or can you? 🤑 Ugh, I don't know, man, my mind is all over the place 🤯.
