Mets predicted to make blockbuster deadline trade for 2-time All-Star

The New York Mets are on the hunt for a game-changing starter, and they might just find one at the trade deadline. With their starting rotation still ranked 18th in ERA from last season, the team needs an ace to shake things up.

While young talent like Framber Valdez and Ranger Suárez are waiting in the wings, it's clear that the Mets need more than just a single arm to make a championship push. That's why some experts predict that David Stearns will be making a move for Freddy Peralta.

The Milwaukee Brewers, who currently have Peralta on their roster, might be willing to part with him if they fall out of contention this summer. According to predictions from Andrew Tredinnick, the Mets could offer Peralta in exchange for three top prospects: shortstop/outfielder Jett Williams, right-handed pitcher Brandon Sproat, and infielder Boston Baro.

The deal would be a steep price, but it's worth considering that Peralta is a rental who will hit the market after this season. Trading away valuable prospects like Williams, Sproat, and Baro might seem like a risk, but the potential reward could be worth it – Peralta has already shown himself to be a two-time All-Star with a career year under his belt.

For Stearns, who acquired Peralta from the Seattle Mariners in 2023, this deal would be a chance to bring back a piece of his former team. The connection between Stearns and Peralta might make this trade a no-brainer for the Mets.

OMG 🤯 like seriously what's going on with the Mets right now? They need an ace like yesterday but they're gonna have to break out their top prospects to get it done?! I'm talking Jett Williams, Brandon Sproat, and Boston Baro... those kids are gonna be stars or something! I mean I get it Stearns knows Peralta from 2023 and all that jazz 🤝 but like, is it worth the risk? Peralta's a rental so he'll leave after this season, what's the point of throwing in all that talent?! 💔

I think it's gonna be super tough for the Mets to pull off a trade like that 🤯... I mean, yeah, Freddy Peralta is a beast on the mound, but three top prospects? That's a lot to give up 💥. I remember when I was playing fantasy baseball last year and I thought I had a great team, only to have my ace get hurt for like 2 weeks 😩... it's a whole different level when you're talking about actual players. I do think Stearns knows what he's doing though, the connection between him and Peralta is real 💬... but still, it's a risk 🤔. What do you guys think?

OMG 😱 I'm all for it!! Stearns gotta do something drastic if he wants to turn this season around 🤯 They need that ace, and Freddy Peralta seems like the real deal 💥 The question is tho, are they willing to give up those prospects? It's a risk, but if it could guarantee them a championship win... 💔 I mean, Valdez & Suárez are great young players, but we all know experience beats youth sometimes 🤷‍♂️ Stearns might just make the right call here 💯

🤔 I'm thinkin', what's the real cost here? Sure, Freddy Peralta is a talented pitcher, but it's not just about him - it's about the team's overall chemistry. Are they really ready to give up that much for one guy? 🚨 On the other hand, if Stearns sees an opportunity to bring in some veteran leadership and a win-now mindset, it might be worth taking a chance on Peralta. 💪 The question is, what are the Mets willing to sacrifice in the process? 🤝

OMG, I'm so hyped about the potential David Stearns trade for Freddy Peralta 🤩! The Mets need that ace starter to shake things up and with Peralta's track record as a two-time All-Star, it's worth taking the risk 💥. I mean, yeah, giving away Jett Williams, Brandon Sproat, and Boston Baro might seem like a lot, but if they're gonna make a deep playoff run this year, it's gotta be worth it 🤔. Plus, Stearns knows Peralta from his time with the Mariners, so that personal connection could definitely sway him in favor of making the move 😊. Fingers crossed this trade happens and Mets fans get to enjoy some thrilling baseball games at Citi Field this summer! 👍

I think the Mets should go for it 🤔! They need an ace to shake things up and with Freddy Peralta, they might just get that 💥. It's not like he's going anywhere after this season, so if they don't make a move now, he'll be gone to another team anyway 😐. Plus, the connection between Stearns and Peralta could be huge 🤝. I mean, who wouldn't want a guy they already know and trust? But, three top prospects is a big price to pay... it's like they're basically selling their future for now 🤑. Still, I think it's worth a shot 🎯!

idk how i feel about this potential trade lol 🤔... on one hand, having freddy peralta as a starter would definitely shake things up for the mets. he's shown his skills before and has that ace vibe going on 🔥. but on the other hand, trading away jett williams, brandon sproat, and boston baro is like, a big deal 🤯... those guys are some talented prospects and it might be hard to replace them if they don't pan out.

i think stearns knows what he's doing tho 💡. he did get peralta from the mariners in 2023, so there must be something about that connection that makes him wanna bring him back 🤝. and let's not forget that peralta is only a rental, so if the mets don't make it this year, they can just cut their losses and move on 💔... but still, i'm curious to see how this all plays out 🤞

🤔 you know what this trade is trying to tell us? it's not just about winning a championship, it's about investing in relationships. david stearn's connection with freddy peralta could be the key to making this deal happen. and think about it, trades are all about calculated risks... sometimes you gotta bet on people, not just players. and what's the worst that can happen? you lose some promising prospects? but maybe, just maybe, you get a game-changer like peralta back in return. 💡

🤔 I don't get why ppl wanna give up so many prospects for one player... like, what's gonna happen when he leaves? 🙃 They should look at the numbers, not just his past performances. Can they really afford to part with 3 top prospects? It's a big risk, but if it pays off... 💸

🤔 I'm loving the idea of Freddy Peralta coming back to New York... it's like he never left 😎! As a fan, you can't help but root for your own guys, especially when they've shown what they're capable of on the mound. With Framber Valdez and Ranger Suárez already doing their thing, I think adding Peralta would give the Mets some serious depth and boost their chances in the playoffs.

Now, about trading away three top prospects... 💸 it's a tough one to swallow, but sometimes you gotta make sacrifices for the bigger picture. If the Brewers are out of contention, they might be willing to let go of Peralta for a decent haul. And with him being a rental, it's not like he'll be holding onto his contract forever... 😊

🤔 I think the idea of trading three top prospects for Freddy Peralta is a bit too steep, don't get me wrong, Peralta has been a game-changer for teams before, but it's not like he'll be there forever 🕰️ and the Mets already have some young talent in the wings. Framber Valdez and Ranger Suárez are still only 25 years old, they've got time to develop and get into their stride.

I also think that Jett Williams, Brandon Sproat, and Boston Baro are all super promising players 🤩 and losing any of them would be a big blow to the Mets' future. Trading away multiple pieces for one player no matter how good he is just doesn't feel like the right move.

But at the same time, Peralta's career year last season was crazy 🚀 and if the Mets are going to make a push for the playoffs this year, they're gonna need some ace quality on the mound. Maybe the Brewers just need a bit of confidence in themselves that their team is actually competitive 🤞, because I think there's more than one way to get Peralta without breaking up the farm system.

I think trading for Freddy Peralta is a pretty big risk, tbh 🤔. I mean, he's had some great games, but he's also had some stinkers. And what if the Brewers are right and you fall out of contention? You're basically throwing away those prospects like they're nothing 💸.

But on the other hand, Peralta does have a proven track record as an All-Star, so that's gotta count for something 🏆. And if Stearns knows him from before, it could be a good fit. Still, I'd want to see some more info about what makes Peralta tick and how he fits into the Mets' plan 💡.

One thing that gets me is why they need an "ace" so badly 🤷‍♂️. Can't you just build around Valdez or one of the other young guys? It feels like this is more about trying to impress fans than actually making a solid team 📊.
