Michael Carrick: Man Utd could be active on deadline day, says interim boss

Manchester United are set to be active on transfer deadline day, with interim boss Michael Carrick keeping his options open. The club has been linked with several central midfield players, including former Wolves skipper Ruben Neves who now plays in Saudi Arabia for Al-Hilal. With Patrick Dorgu ruled out for "a number of weeks" through injury, United may look to bring in a new signing to strengthen their squad.

Carrick was coy when asked specifically about the club's position, saying "never say never" and stating that a lot can happen before the deadline. The Portuguese interim boss did admit that he is feeling pretty calm, having shown what his team is capable of as they climb into the top four for the first time this season.

However, United have struggled against lower-league opponents in recent weeks, including defeats to Everton, West Ham, Bournemouth and Wolves at Old Trafford. Their next opponents, Fulham, are also a side that has been impressive recently, having taken 17 points from their last eight games.

Carrick acknowledged that he is taking nothing for granted when it comes to this weekend's game against Fulham, saying "just because we are at home, taking anything for granted is bang out of order." With United looking to build momentum and keep their top-four push alive, it will be interesting to see if they make any last-minute signings before the deadline.

ugh dont think man u need to bring in anyone new already ur squad is alright! i mean u just got into 4th place and now u r gonna go out and splurge on some more players? seems like u r gettin too comfy rn πŸ˜’πŸ’Έ

idk why people think man utd needs to sign ruben neves lol he's in saudi arabia what's next a player from mars? 🀣 they should focus on getting someone who can actually help them not get thrashed by teams like fulham and west ham. carrick says "never say never" but let's be real it sounds like he's just trying to cover his own backside πŸ‘€

man i'm so hyped for manchester united's transfer deadline day moves!!! 🀩 they need a good midfielder stat or we're gonna struggle in the next games... and can't believe carrick is playing it cool like that, saying never say never lol what does he mean by that? is there something specific on his mind? also, oh man, beating fulham at home would be huge! let's hope carrick gets some quality signings done before the deadline πŸ’ͺ

I think Manchester United should try to sign Ruben Neves on transfer deadline day, that would be sick for them πŸ’―. They've been struggling against lower-league opponents lately and a strong central midfielder could make all the difference πŸ”„. But at the same time, I don't blame Carrick for keeping his options open - you never know what can happen in 24 hours ⏰. The fact that United are climbing into the top four is impressive, but they still have a long way to go πŸ”œ. With Fulham coming up next, it'll be interesting to see if they can keep their momentum going without any new signings πŸ€”.

omg i hope man u gets that midfielder they really need or else its gonna be a long season for them πŸ€”βš½οΈ

i mean i feel bad for carrick and all but sometimes u just gotta bring in some fresh blood to boost morale and whatnot yeah? they cant keep relying on same old players and expectin results 😬

but at the same time im lovin how calm carrick seems like it shows he's got a good head on his shoulders πŸ™βš½οΈ and like i dont think they should take fulham lightly or anything because that team is killin it right now πŸ”₯πŸ’ͺ

OMG, can't believe United didn't splash some cash on Neves lol 🀣 he would've been a great signing! But for real though, I think Carrick needs to get someone in ASAP or we'll be getting roasted by Fulham at home πŸ™…β€β™‚οΈ. And btw, what's with all these injuries? First Dorgu goes down and now... πŸ€¦β€β™‚οΈ

I wonder what Ruben Neves' Saudi Arabian teammates think about him getting a transfer to Manchester United 🀣, like "Hey, buddy's off to join the English Premier League now" πŸ˜‚. Anyway, I'm sure Carrick is just trying to keep his options open while also not getting too excited about making last-minute signings... it's like when you're watching a soap opera and thinking "OMG will they get the surprise twist?" πŸ€”. And btw, if United do make a signing, I hope they don't break that "never say never" promise to Carrick or he'll have some 'splainin' to do 😜.

πŸ€” think man u need a deep-lying midfielder like neves...he's been doing some decent stuff in saudi arabia πŸ•ΊπŸ’ͺ would love to see him come back and help carrick's team out ⏱️ they really are struggling against lower league teams lately 😬 fulham's gonna be tough too, gotta be on high alert at old Trafford πŸ‘€

Man, I'm so done with Man U's inconsistency 🀯. One week they're cruising in 4th place, the next they get thrashed by a Bournemouth team that's been rubbish all season 🐟. And now they're trying to sign Ruben Neves? That's just laughable πŸ’β€β™‚οΈ. Newsflash: if you can't beat them, don't buy 'em πŸ˜‚. They need to sort out their squad and not make last-minute signings that'll confuse the team for months 🀯. Michael Carrick's being smart, but come on, guys! Make a statement, not just some half-hearted attempt at strengthening the squad πŸ”₯. Bring it or leave it - that's my motto πŸ‘Š

I'm like super sure Manchester United need to sign Ruben Neves ASAP 🀩... no wait, I was thinking that might not be a good idea because he's in Saudi Arabia and stuff can get weird with foreign players. Maybe it would be better if they bring someone in who knows the Premier League already? But on the other hand, Neves does look pretty talented and United need to strengthen their midfield... unless, maybe, Carrick has some tricks up his sleeve and can make some magic happen without a new signing? πŸ€” Ugh, I don't know what's going on in my head today!

I'm not buying that Manchester United's just chillin' until the deadline πŸ™„. They've been getting thrashed by lower-league teams recently, like, what's going on there? And now they're considering making a signing because Patrick Dorgu is injured? That's convenient timing, if you ask me. And what about Ruben Neves, huh? Al-Hilal might be a good fit for him, but I'm not convinced this is just a PR stunt to boost morale πŸ€‘. We need actual proof that Carrick wants to strengthen the squad or it'll just be more of the same old mediocre football πŸ‘Ž

think man united need a good midfielder, neves would be a great addition πŸ€”πŸ’‘, but also wondering how dorgu's injury is gonna affect the team, they've been struggling with that one lately πŸ‘πŸ’”, and fulham are looking strong so it's gonna be an interesting game at old trafford, don't know if carrick can get them 3 points 😬
