More than 2,300 flights canceled in US for Saturday ahead of storm

Over 2,300 flights have been grounded in the US ahead of a major winter storm, with Dallas airports bearing the brunt of the cancellations. The storm is expected to bring snow and ice from Texas to the Carolinas, with the worst of it hitting the South.

By Saturday morning, the weather will be hazardous from Texas to Arkansas to Tennessee, while by afternoon, snow will fall in St. Louis, Indianapolis, Cincinnati, and Charleston, West Virginia. By evening, a large swath of the country will be blanketed with snow and ice, stretching from New Mexico to the Carolinas.

The biggest danger from this storm is the formation of ice in the South, particularly in Dallas, Little Rock, Memphis, Nashville, north of Atlanta, Charlotte, Raleigh, Roanoke, Virginia, and Washington, D.C. Up to 1 inch of ice or more could paralyze roads for days, leading to widespread power outages and treacherous travel conditions.

The National Weather Service has issued warnings for ice and heavy snow across the country, with some areas expecting over a foot of snow. New York City is expected to receive 8-12 inches of snow, while parts of Maine could see up to 6 inches.

In preparation for the storm, at least 16 states have declared a state of emergency, including Alabama, Arkansas, Georgia, Kansas, Kentucky, Louisiana, Maryland, Mississippi, Missouri, New Jersey, North Carolina, South Carolina, Tennessee, Texas, and Virginia. Washington, D.C. has also issued a state of emergency.

Travelers are advised to exercise extreme caution this weekend and through next week, as the storm could last for days and cause hazardous conditions on the roads.

Ugh man, can't believe my flights got cancelled AGAIN because of some stupid snowstorm 🌨️😑. I was supposed to fly outta DFW airport yesterday but they just shut down the whole thing. Now I'm stuck here in Dallas with nothing to do but wait for the storm to pass. Ice is literally going to be a total game changer, can you imagine driving on roads that are like skating rinks? πŸ€£πŸ˜‚. And 16 states have declared emergency already? That's wild. Just hope everyone stays safe and warm out there...

Ugh, can you believe how crazy winter is getting?! 🀯 I'm literally dreading driving this weekend because of that massive snowstorm headed our way! 🌨️ Dallas airports are already pretty slammed, I imagine it's gonna be a real mess when the snow really starts falling on Saturday. Ice is the scariest part for me - it can totally grind everything to a halt. Like, up to 1 inch of ice could just freeze all the roads and cause some major problems 🚧. At least NY City only gets 8-12 inches, so maybe that'll be slightly less of a pain for them? 🀞

🌨️ gotta feel bad 4 ppl stuck in airport limbo πŸ›«πŸ˜© got my sympathy 4 those who r stuck w/o a flight plan πŸ•°οΈ also hope road crews can handle the ice situation ASAP ⚠️ winter storm like dis, u need a plan B lol just stay safe & warm 🏠⚑️

Ugh, great just what I needed, another excuse to cancel my flights and binge-watch Netflix for the next week πŸ˜’. I mean, 2,300 flights grounded? That's like, half of all flights in the US or something! And Dallas airports are taking the hit? Nice, because who doesn't love a good snow-day... said no one ever 🌨️. I swear, the weather just loves to ruin everyone's plans and make them look like they're stuck in a perpetual Groundhog Day nightmare ❄️.

OMG 🀯 just got my morning flight cancelled... like 3 times already 🚫😩 what's goin on with this winter storm?! it sounds like it's gonna be a total mess out there β„οΈπŸ’¦ ice, snow, you name it! poor ppl in the South gotta deal with the worst of it... hope they got their emergency kits ready πŸŽ’πŸ§Š i'm stuck at home now and can only watch the news 😬 how long is this storm gonna last? and what about all the travelers? 😱 16 states already declared a state of emergency?! that's crazy πŸ’₯

Ugh, this winter storm is gonna be a real pain in the butt! πŸ˜’ I mean, 2,300 flights grounded? That's just crazy talk! And the worst of it hitting the South? Not exactly ideal timing for all you folks who were planning to travel or get around. The thought of up to 1 inch of ice or more paralyzing roads is just chilling (pun intended πŸ₯Ά). I do hope everyone stays safe and warm this weekend...

Ugh, this winter storm is looking super nasty! 🌨️ I feel so bad for all those ppl who got their flights grounded or whose travel plans got ruined. 2,300+ flights, wow that's a lot of cancellations 😞. I do hope everyone stays safe and warm during this time. Ice is definitely the biggest concern here - can you imagine driving on roads with up to 1 inch of ice? 🚨 That's just crazy talk! πŸ’₯ Anyone got experience with blizzards or winter storms like this before? Any tips for staying cozy while we wait out the storm? 😊

Ugh, can't believe another major winter storm hitting the US 🌨️😬. I feel so bad for all those people stuck in the air or on their way to visit loved ones. 2,300+ flights grounded? That's crazy! And now we're expecting up to a foot of snow and ice across multiple states... it's gonna be a real challenge to get around. I'm actually thinking of staying indoors this weekend πŸ€¦β€β™€οΈ. But you know what the worst part is? All those people going through power outages and treacherous travel conditions due to just 1 inch of ice πŸ˜“. It's like, come on nature! Be kind for a change ☁️.

And I'm seeing all these states declaring emergencies... it's amazing how quickly things escalate when the weather gets bad 🀯. I do hope everyone stays safe and warm this weekend πŸ’‘. Travelers should really exercise extreme caution and plan ahead. It's not worth risking your life just to get around during this storm ❄️. Let's all just hunker down, drink some hot chocolate, and wait for the sun to come out again β˜•οΈ!

Ugh, 2k+ flights grounded already? 🀯 In my day, we didn't have all these cancellations and delays like this. We'd just deal with it, you know? Now everyone's all about being prepared... for what, exactly? πŸ˜‚ 16 states on emergency alert? That's a lot of folks scrambling to get ready. I guess you could say they're taking this storm pretty seriously. πŸŒͺ️ Still, can't help but wonder if we've just become too dependent on those fancy flight tracking apps and whatnot... always checking the screen for updates, never even looking out the window to see what's happening in real life 😴

Ugh I really don't wanna be stuck in school on Saturday 😩. This winter storm is gonna be so bad! I hope they can get all those flights back up in the air ASAP πŸš€. And can you even imagine driving to school in ice? That's just crazy 🀯. My friends and I were planning to go to that concert at the music venue on Saturday, but now it looks like we're gonna have to reschedule 🎡. At least our school has those snow days planned out, so we'll be safe and warm while everyone else is dealing with this mess ❄️.

Ugh, can't believe all these flights getting grounded 🚫😩. Like, I get it, safety first and all that, but seriously, who's gonna be stuck at the airport with no flights to catch? And now they're warning about ice forming in the South... 1 inch of ice could be a big deal! ❄️ I'm living in NYC and we're expecting like 8-12 inches of snow 🌨️, so I'll believe it when I see it. Still, gotta respect the weather guys for predicting this stuff πŸ€“. Just hope all these emergency declarations mean everyone stays safe out there ❀️πŸ’ͺ

Umm... I think like, grounding 2,300 flights is kinda harsh, right? πŸ€·β€β™‚οΈ I mean, I get it, safety first and all that, but come on! So many people are gonna be stuck at the airport or in the air for days. That's just annoying πŸ˜’. And yeah, snow and ice are super bad, but can't we just, like, take some precautions or something? Like, wear warm clothes and drive slow? πŸ€¦β€β™‚οΈ I mean, I know it's not that simple, but still... 16 states declaring emergencies? That's a lot! πŸ’ͺ Maybe they should've seen this coming and been more prepared, you know? πŸ€” But, like, at the same time, I feel bad for all those people who are gonna be stuck without power or can't get where they need to go. Ugh, I don't know... maybe it's just my bad luck that I have to deal with this crazy weather πŸ˜’.

😬 "The best way to predict your future is to create it." I think governments & airlines should be more proactive in preparing citizens for these kinds of storms, like investing in better infrastructure and emergency services. Meanwhile, people can only prepare by stockpiling supplies, charging their phones, etc πŸ“¦πŸ’‘

Ugh, 2300 flights grounded already? That's crazy! I'm literally stuck in my hometown right now because of the snow. I was supposed to fly out to visit family but now I'm stuck here until things get better. It's gonna be a long weekend for sure πŸ˜’. The thought of driving on icy roads is terrifying, especially since they're expecting up to 1 inch of ice or more in some places. We should really have more efficient public transportation options around here. It's not fair that people are having to deal with this kind of stress and inconvenience. Let's hope the power stays on and things get back to normal soon πŸ’‘.

Ugh, another major snowstorm in the US 🌨️😩! I mean, I get it, winter is here and all that, but can't we just fast forward to spring already? πŸ˜‚ 2,300 flights grounded? That's crazy talk! My poor travel plans are going out the window. And 1 inch of ice or more could paralyze roads for days? That's a whole different level of drama. I'm just glad I don't have to commute to work this weekend... yet πŸ™. On a silver lining, I guess it's a good excuse to binge-watch my favorite shows and catch up on some much-needed rest 😴. Fingers crossed the storm passes quickly and everyone stays safe! ✨

omg can you imagine being stuck in one place with no wifi πŸ“΅πŸ˜± 2k+ flights grounded, like what's the point of even having a flight schedule? πŸ€¦β€β™‚οΈ and who needs to travel anyway when there's a snow day πŸŒ¨οΈβ„οΈ? at least the South is getting some much-needed love (aka ice) and New York City gets to experience winter again 😎 8-12 inches of snow, yaaas! but seriously, treacherous conditions are no joke, so buckle up and stay safe, folks 🚨πŸ’ͺ

ugh this is so annoying 😩 I was supposed to fly to new york city this weekend but now i dont know if ill make it πŸ€¦β€β™€οΈ has anyone else been affected by the flight cancellations? 🚫 i just wanna get out of texas already ❄️

Ugh, don't even know how they're gonna get people outta here after this thing hits 🌨️😬. Ice, snow, everywhere... sounds like a total nightmare. Dallas airports are already getting slammed, can only imagine what it's gonna be like when everyone tries to leave in the morning ⏰. 16 states have declared a state of emergency, which is pretty serious business πŸ˜“. People need to stay safe and indoors till this thing passes, no point in risking life and limb on these roads πŸš—πŸ˜¨.
