NASA to Provide Live Coverage of Crew-11 Return and Splashdown

Aboard the International Space Station, NASA's SpaceX Crew-11 mission is set for an earlier-than-planned return to Earth. Undocking from the orbital laboratory is currently targeted for no earlier than 5:05 p.m. EST on January 14, pending weather conditions.

The decision to bring the crew back home comes after a medical concern with one of the astronauts currently living and working aboard the space station was identified. While the agency cannot disclose further details due to medical privacy concerns, NASA has assured that the crew member is stable.

Crew members Zena Cardman, Mike Fincke, Kimiya Yui, and Oleg Platonov are set to splash down off the coast of California on January 15 at approximately 3:41 a.m. The exact timing will depend on various factors, including spacecraft readiness, recovery team preparedness, weather conditions, and sea states.

Live coverage of the Crew-11 return will be available on NASA+, Amazon Prime, and the agency's YouTube channel. This includes pre-splashdown preparations, such as hatch closure coverage starting at 3 p.m. EST on January 14, followed by undocking coverage beginning at 4:45 p.m.

The splashdown is expected to occur around 3:41 a.m. on January 15, marking the completion of the Crew-11 mission. Immediately after landing, NASA will provide an audio-only broadcast of communications between the crew and flight controllers during the Dragon's transit away from the space station.

A return-to-Earth news conference featuring NASA Administrator Jared Isaacman is scheduled for around 5:45 a.m. EST on January 15, which will be streamed live on the aforementioned platforms. Journalists interested in attending virtually must contact the NASA Johnson newsroom by 5 p.m. CST on January 14 to obtain call details.

For those following the Crew-11 mission, NASA has compiled comprehensive coverage and information on its commercial crew blog, available at nasa.gov/commercialcrew.

omg can't believe we get live coverage of splashdown πŸš€πŸ’₯! gotta stay up late jan 14 to watch pre-splashdown prep and undocking coverage, fingers crossed they don't have any issues with the spacecraft 🀞 NASA is doing an amazing job keeping us updated on the crew's health, hope everything goes smoothly for zena cardman and the rest of the team πŸ‘«πŸš€. also, who's excited to watch jared isaacman do a news conference after landing? πŸ“ΊπŸ’¬ anyone else watching this live coverage? πŸ€”

πŸ€” just wondering why they're not being transparent about the medical concern with one of the astronauts... shouldn't we know more than "medical privacy concerns"? πŸš€πŸ’Š also, who's paying for all this live coverage? and are they gonna be covering any behind-the-scenes stuff like space station prep or is it all splashdown drama? πŸ“ΊπŸ‘€

πŸš€ Oh man I'm so hyped for this splashdown! 🀩 Been following this mission since day one, can't wait to see those astronauts return safely to Earth πŸ™ Crew-11 is gonna make a splash, literally! πŸ˜‚ January 15 can't come soon enough, gotta tune in for that live coverage on NASA+ or YouTube πŸ“Ί

Ugh, another event that's getting live-streamed everywhere 🀯. Can't they just have a decent discussion forum for us to watch or read about it in peace? I mean, I know NASA+ and Amazon Prime are convenient, but do we really need to be bombarded with notifications and ads on every platform? And don't even get me started on the YouTube comments section... πŸ™„.

I guess what's exciting is that one of the astronauts had a medical concern, so it's good they're bringing them back ASAP. But honestly, I'm more worried about my online experience than I am about some space mission πŸ€·β€β™€οΈ. Can't we just get a simple, distraction-free forum to discuss this stuff without all the clutter? 🚫

I'm not sure I'm buying all this fuss around the Crew-11 return πŸ€”. Don't get me wrong, it's awesome that we're getting live coverage of this event, but is it really necessary to have so many platforms streaming it? Can't they just put it on one thing and let people decide where they want to watch it?

And what's up with the audio-only broadcast after landing? I mean, isn't that like a bonus feature or something? πŸ“» It feels like we're getting more than our fair share of info here. Don't get me wrong, I'm all for transparency and keeping people in the loop, but can't NASA just give us a clear timeline of what's happening instead of all these extra bells and whistles?

I'm also curious about why they're having a news conference so early in the morning πŸ•°οΈ. Is that really necessary? Can't they just release a statement or something and let people digest it before jumping on every bandwagon?

I'm kinda hyped for the live coverage of Crew-11 return πŸš€πŸ‘½! Been waiting to see those astronauts come home after their epic space adventure. I mean, who wouldn't want to watch them splash down off the coast of Cali? 🌊🌴 It's gonna be sick to see the crew safely back on Earth, and I'm stoked that NASA is giving us all a front-row seat to it. Plus, Jared Isaacman's gonna share some updates, so that's gotta be good for some juicy space info πŸ’¬. Can't wait for the 5 a.m. news conference – hope there's some cool vids to watch πŸ“Ή!

😊 I'm excited for the live coverage of the Crew-11 return πŸš€! It's always a thrill to watch those astronauts splash down safely back on Earth 🌎. With the medical concern, it's good that NASA is prioritizing their health πŸ‘¨β€βš•οΈ. The fact that they're providing live coverage on multiple platforms like YouTube and Amazon Prime is awesome πŸ“Ί! I'm looking forward to hearing from Jared Isaacman after landing, he's always so positive about space exploration πŸ’«. Can't wait to see the astronauts reunited with their families πŸ‘ͺ...

omg y'all i cant even handle my emotions rn! 🀯 they're comin back home earlier than expected after that one astronaut got sick πŸ€• cant wait to see zena cardman and the rest of the crew splash down in cali on jan 15 its gonna be a wild ride watchin them return from space πŸš€ ive been following this mission for weeks now and its been so intense πŸ’₯ first they had to deal with that medical emergency, then there was all the drama with the spacecraft preparations... but i guess thats just part of the journey right? πŸ€·β€β™€οΈ anyway, nasa is makin some live coverage available on various platforms, which is pretty cool if u ask me πŸ“Ί cant wait for the return-to-earth news conference too! πŸ˜ƒ

😊 Can't believe how fast space travel is advancing! Just imagine being able to splash down safely off the coast of Cali and getting back to your family and friends after a mission in space. The Crew-11 guys must've been super nervous about that medical concern, but thankfully everything seems okay now πŸ™. And wow, live coverage on multiple platforms? That's so cool! I'll be keeping an eye on it for sure... might even have my popcorn ready πŸ˜‹
