Nearly 150 flood alerts in place across England in aftermath of Storm Chandra

Flood Warnings Linger Across England After Storm Chandra's Devastating Passage

A week after making landfall in the UK, Storm Chandra continues to wreak havoc on communities across southern England. With nearly 150 flood alerts still in place, residents are being urged to remain vigilant as heavy rain and strong winds threaten to unleash further flooding.

The Environment Agency has confirmed that 147 properties were affected by the storm in Somerset and Dorset, with some areas still impassable due to road closures. A major incident has been declared in Somerset, where teams worked through the night to respond to reports of flooded roads.

Residents are being warned to be aware of the "danger to life" threat posed by flooding, particularly in the Lower Stour at Iford Bridge Home Park in Bournemouth, where water levels remain high despite a severe warning being lifted. Those who have evacuated their homes are advised to follow local response partners' guidance on when it is safe to return.

The Met Office has issued another yellow rain alert for Thursday and Friday, with outbreaks of heavy rain expected across Cornwall from morning till evening. The region can expect 10mm to 20mm of rainfall, with up to 30mm possible over the moors and west Cornwall. Strong winds are also forecasted, particularly in western areas.

Coastal communities in Devon and Cornwall are being warned to be vigilant, as waves up to 15ft high could hit exposed beaches, topping seafronts and harbour walls. The RNLI has urged beachgoers to exercise extreme caution when visiting the coast during this time.

As England struggles to recover from Storm Chandra's fury, residents are bracing themselves for another challenging day of heavy rain and strong winds. With flood warnings still in place across many areas, it is essential that everyone remains vigilant and takes necessary precautions to stay safe.

omg what a crazy storm πŸŒͺ️! I'm so worried about all the people who had to evacuate their homes πŸ˜”. 147 properties affected by Storm Chandra is crazy! how do they deal with that kind of flooding in Somerset? and those waves up to 15ft high are terrifying πŸ–οΈ. i hope everyone stays safe and dry till this storm passes ☁️. I wonder if the weather forecasters can predict exactly when we'll go back to normal 😐.

πŸŒͺ️ Ugh, this storm is so draining... I mean, I get it, we need to be careful with flooding, but can't the Environment Agency just give people a heads up already? Like, 147 properties affected and still no timeline on when everything will be back to normal? It's like they're not taking anything seriously enough. And don't even get me started on the warnings... "danger to life" this and that... can we please just have some real numbers on how many people are in danger or something? πŸ€¦β€β™‚οΈ It's all just so frustrating...

omg u guys storm chandras still causing so much trouble πŸŒͺ️😩 i cant even imagine living in a flooded home its so scary 147 properties affected in somerset & dorset?? thats like, half of the country or something how can u prepare for that kind of flooding?? the met office is saying there's another yellow rain alert on thursday and friday too... i just hope everyone stays safe out there 😬 coastal communities in devon & cornwall need to be extra careful with those waves up to 15ft high its like, crazy 🌊

Ugh, I'm so done with the state of news formatting 🀯. Can't they even get a simple table right? πŸ“Š Like, if they're gonna list 147 properties affected by Storm Chandra, can't they at least organize it into columns or something? It's just so... messy πŸŒƒ. And don't even get me started on the spacing between paragraphs πŸ‘€. It's like, hello! You've got a flood alert going on and you're gonna break up the text every other line? Priorities, people! πŸ’ͺ But I guess that's just my formatting nerd brain talking πŸ˜‚. Anyway, back to Storm Chandra... seriously though, hope everyone stays safe in southern England β›ˆοΈ.

β›ˆοΈ "The future belongs to those who believe in the beauty of their dreams." - Eleanor Roosevelt πŸ’¦ Still a week after Storm Chandra hit southern England and its people are dealing with the aftermath...

Ugh πŸ€•πŸ˜“ still thinking about those affected by Storm Chandra πŸŒͺοΈπŸ’” 150+ flood alerts 🚨🏠 not easy for people living in southern England ☁️🌫️ water levels remain high πŸ’§πŸ˜© especially at Iford Bridge Home Park πŸ“πŸ˜± hope everyone stays safe πŸ‘πŸ’•

Ugh, storm chandra is still causing major issues 😩πŸŒͺ️ 150 flood alerts are a lot to deal with and i can imagine how scary it must be for the residents in those areas who had to evacuate their homes ⚠️. the fact that some areas are still impassable due to road closures is crazy 🀯 and i hope everyone is being safe and taking necessary precautions πŸ’‘. the weather forecast doesn't look great either, with more heavy rain and strong winds expected πŸ‘€. coastal communities in devon and cornwall need to be super vigilant as those waves can be really rough 🌊🏞️. fingers crossed that things start to dry out soon β˜€οΈ

ugh I'm so worried about all these families who have been affected by the flooding πŸ€• my kids are already traumatized from the last storm and now they're going through this again... it's just not fair πŸ™„ and what really gets me is that some areas still don't have access to basic necessities like clean water and power πŸ’§πŸ’‘ I hope the authorities can get everything back on track soon, it's taking a toll on so many families already dealing with stress and anxiety 😩

omg u guys idk how i'm doin today the flood alerts r still up everywhere i live in devon and its so scary lol i had to move my laptop upstairs cuz the water level rose like 2 feet 🀯 i was like "what is happening!!" and then i looked out the window and saw trees down everywhere like a scene from a horror movie 🌳😱 anyway, i'm just glad my fam is safe and sound we're staying indoors today until it passes i hope everyone else in england is doin alright too πŸ™

πŸ€¦β€β™‚οΈ I'm like "totally" worried about the flooding situation still going on 🌧️, but at the same time, I think 150 flood alerts might be kinda a lot πŸ˜…...like, shouldn't they be able to handle it? And 147 properties affected in Somerset and Dorset seems serious, but what's the point of declaring a major incident if it's just gonna be all over the news again πŸ“°?

And can we talk about how some areas are still impassable due to road closures? That sounds super frustrating πŸš—. But on the other hand, I guess people should know better than to drive through flooded roads, right? πŸ€·β€β™‚οΈ

I'm also kinda concerned about the RNLI warning beachgoers about extreme caution at the coast...but like, isn't that just common sense when there's a risk of big waves and strong winds? 🌊 I mean, what's not to be cautious about in this situation?

Oh wait, I just remembered...the Met Office has issued another yellow rain alert for Thursday and Friday...which means there's still more rain on the way β˜”οΈ. This is all getting a bit too much for me! 😩

omg like i cant believe its been a week since storm chandras landfall πŸŒͺ️😱 150 flood alerts are still active?! thats so concerning for all the residents affected πŸ€• im not sure how they're managing with all these road closures and flooding issues... 10mm to 20mm of rainfall in cornwall sounds like its gonna be a super wet couple of days β›ˆοΈ hope everyone stays safe & dry πŸ’¦

πŸŒͺ️ ugh this storm chandra thing is just getting ridiculous 1 week in and we're still dealing with the aftermath it's like our weather system is trying to give us a bad case of flooding-induced anxiety anyway can't believe they had to declare a major incident in somerset i mean what even is that supposed to do? i guess it's better than having the military show up or something πŸ€¦β€β™€οΈ but seriously who plans for storms like this? we need some kind of weather emergency management system that doesn't just say "just stay inside" like that's gonna cut it anyone got any ideas?

.. remember when we had those crazy storms back in '07? Storm Eunice or something... yeah, that one was a mess too πŸŒͺ️. I mean, it's not the same as the old days, but you know what I mean? It feels like every year we're having some kind of major weather disaster. And now this one with Chandra... 150 flood alerts still active? That's wild. I'm just hoping everyone stays safe out there. You'd think we'd have figured out how to prepare for these things by now, but I guess you can't predict Mother Nature 🌿. I'm keeping my fingers crossed the rain lets up soon, though...

My heart goes out to all the folks affected by Storm Chandra πŸ€—πŸ˜”. I can only imagine how scary and overwhelming this must be for them right now. The thought of not being able to move around, or even having your home invaded by water... it's just devastating πŸ˜•. And the fact that it's still happening a week later is just heartbreaking πŸ’”. Can you even imagine what they're going through? I hope everyone stays safe and gets the help they need πŸ™.

ugh I'm so worried about all these flood alerts 😩... I mean, can't we just get some decent weather for once?! πŸ€·β€β™€οΈ Storm Chandra was bad enough, but I guess the UK's not done with it yet... 147 properties in Somerset and Dorset got hit, which is just awful. And to think there are still so many flood alerts out - people need to stay super vigilant and take precautions, 'cause those water levels can be life-threatening. πŸŒŠπŸ’¦ Coastal communities in Devon and Cornwall should be extra careful too, with waves up to 15ft high... I don't know how they're gonna recover from this storm's impact πŸ€•πŸŒͺ️

I'M SOOO concerned about all the ppl affected by storm chandra!!! πŸŒͺ️😱 150 flood alerts is CRAZY!!! how r u supposed 2 know when its safe 2 go back 2 ur home? πŸ€” rn, i think we need more support 4 ppl who got hit hard by this storm. gov should def be doin more 2 help w/ evacuation & cleanup efforts πŸ’ͺ

Ugh, I'm so worried about all these families who have lost their homes due to the flooding πŸ€•. It's just not right that they're having to deal with this all over again after the storm passed through last week. Can't we just get a break from all this bad weather for once? And the worst part is, it's still affecting so many communities - my aunt lives in Dorset and she's been dealing with flooded roads for days 🚧.

I feel like the authorities are doing everything they can to help, but sometimes I think it's just not enough. The RNLI is being super helpful though, especially when it comes to warning people about the dangers of the coast 🌊. My kids would never dare go near the beach right now, and that's probably for the best.

I do hope everyone stays safe out there today ⚠️. We need to look out for each other during times like these. And can we please just get some sunshine soon? This grey weather is exhausting 😴.

Ugh I'm so done with these weather updates πŸŒͺ️😩. One minute we're dealing with flooding from one storm, the next we're getting warned about another 🀯. Can't they just give us a break?! πŸ™„ I mean, I get it, Storm Chandra was crazy and all, but now it's like our country is stuck in some kind of never-ending weather cycle ☁️. And don't even get me started on the beach warnings... who thought it was a good idea to go out in 15ft waves? πŸ–οΈπŸ€¦β€β™€οΈ I'm just trying to enjoy my life here, can't we have a decent day without some flood alert or rain warning thrown our way?! 😩
