I'm kinda worried about the appointment process for the Illinois Supreme Court justices... it seems like they just get to pick who replaces them without much scrutiny . It's like, we need some more info on how that works so we can be sure they're choosing qualified people for the job . I mean, I've heard of some qualified candidates getting chosen, but what about those who aren't? Shouldn't there be a bit more transparency around this whole thing ?
I've drawn a simple diagram to illustrate my thoughts on this issue :
```
+-----------------------+
Current Process
(Retiring J >
Appointing J'
Successor
< Appointing J')
+-----------------------+
|
| Lack of Transparency
v
+-----------------------+
Proposed Change
(Formal Process)
> Open Seat Election
+-----------------------+
The current system, while it may work in some cases, raises concerns about accountability and transparency.
Let's see if the Illinois General Assembly decides to make a change
I think the lack of transparency in this process is a major concern. If they can make it more transparent, that would be awesome
