Get a plug that's rated for at least 20 amps if you're plugging in something more substantial. And don't even get me started on those Alexa-only and Google-only smart plugs... 🤦‍♀️ You need to be all in with your home automation system if you want seamless integration, especially if you have an Apple Home setup.
