See ‘Star Wars’ legend react to Acosta’s Darth Vader impression | CNN Business

Mark Hamill, the legendary actor who portrayed Luke Skywalker in the iconic 'Star Wars' franchise, recently shared his thoughts on a potential spin-off series centered around his character. During an interview with CNN's Jim Acosta, Hamill expressed his interest in exploring more stories from Luke's past and potentially reprising his role as the legendary Jedi.

The conversation took a humorous turn when Acosta attempted to channel Hamill as Darth Vader by striking a pose and making the iconic breathing sound effects. Hamill couldn't help but crack up at the impression, acknowledging it was an "amazing" take on the Sith Lord.

Hamill's enthusiasm for a potential spin-off series is no surprise, given his long-standing connection with the 'Star Wars' franchise. He has been involved in various projects over the years, including books and video games, which have expanded the Skywalker saga beyond the original trilogy.

While there hasn't been any official word on a Luke Skywalker-centric spin-off, Hamill's comments suggest that he is eager to delve deeper into his character's backstory and explore new possibilities within the 'Star Wars' universe.

I'm so down for another Luke Skywalker story 🤩! I mean, Mark Hamill was born to play that guy and bring him to life in a whole new way. A spin-off series could be epic, especially if they go back to his younger days as Luke, exploring his training with Yoda or his time on Dagobah. That would be so cool to see 🌿. And can you imagine the potential for amazing scenes with Darth Vader? I'm already getting goosebumps thinking about it 😲. I do hope they bring in some fresh faces, too, to give us a new perspective on the Skywalker universe. Let's make this happen, Star Wars! 💫

I'm so stoked about this idea of a Luke Skywalker spin-off! I mean, who wouldn't want to see more of that iconic hero's journey? Mark Hamill's enthusiasm is infectious, and I can totally see him killing it in another series. Plus, the fact that he's been involved with the franchise for so long is super cool - like, he's part of the 'Star Wars' DNA now! 🤖

I think what's most exciting about this idea is the possibility to explore Luke's past and all the epic battles he must have fought before becoming the hero we know. I'm curious to see how the writers would bring that to life, especially since Mark Hamill has already shown us his chops as a performer. It's like, can you imagine him doing justice to those incredible characters from the old days? 🤩

I'm low-key hyped about this potential spin-off series centered around Luke! 😎 I mean, Mark Hamill's enthusiasm for exploring more stories from Luke's past is totally understandable - the dude's been carrying that character's torch since 1977! 🌟 The fact that he's open to reprising his role as the legendary Jedi makes me think this could be something really special. And let's be real, who wouldn't want to see more of that iconic lightsaber dueling action? ⚡️ But what I'm most stoked about is the possibility of delving deeper into Luke's character development - we've only scratched the surface of his journey from hero to legend. Fingers crossed this spin-off series brings us some serious "what if" moments! 🤔

🤣 OMG can you believe Mark Hamill just lost it laughing at Jim Acosta's Darth Vader impression lol this guy cracks me up but seriously, I'm so down for a Luke Skywalker spin-off series I need more of his character development, especially with all the events that went down between him and Vader. And let's be real, who wouldn't want to see more of the OG hero of the Rebel Alliance? https://www.cnn.com/2025/02/10/media/mark-hamill-star-wars-luke-skywalker-spin-off/index.html 🚀

🤔 I think it would be sick to see more of Luke's past in a spin-off series! 🚀 Think about it, we've already seen some awesome stuff with Obi-Wan and Yoda... now it's time for Luke's turn! 🎥 Maybe we could get some insight into his life on Dagobah or his time as a young Padawan. 🌿

I can totally see Mark Hamill bringing this character to life in a new way. He's already proven he can play the whole spectrum of emotions, from hero to villain (see: that Darth Vader impression 😂).

The possibilities are endless! We could explore his friendships with other Jedi, or maybe even see him as a mentor to a young Luke Skywalker 🤝. Whatever it is, I'm hyped to see what Mark has in store for us! 👍

🤣 omg i'm dead!!! mark hamill cracking up at jim acosta's dad vader impression was everything i love how humble he is about it tho lol, it's not every day you see a legendary actor like him still having that kind of fun with his fans 😂 but for real though, a luke skywalker spin-off series would be amazing!! can u imagine more stories from his past? the adventures before and after he became a hero 🤯 i'm all in on this one 💖

I'd love to see Luke Skywalker get his own show 🤩, like, who wouldn't want to know more about the dude before he became a hero? I mean, we've got plenty of info on Anakin's past in the prequels, but Luke's origin story is basically a mystery at this point 😎. Plus, Mark Hamill is just too funny for his own good 🤣, that Darth Vader impression had me LOLing ! It'd be awesome to see him bring some new life (pun intended) to the character and maybe even introduce some fresh faces to the franchise. Maybe we'll get to see Luke as a youngling in training, or as an older guy struggling with the whole Force thing... so many possibilities! 👍

Ugh, I'm not getting my hopes up for this one 🤦‍♂️. Mark Hamill's enthusiasm for a Luke Skywalker spin-off just feels like marketing hype to me. I mean, we've seen it before – creators get excited about reviving old IPs and then... nothing. It'll be another overhyped series that fails to live up to the original trilogy's magic 🚫. And can you imagine how cheesy it'll be with Luke's "backstory" explored through some boring exposition fest? Not my cup of tea, no thanks 😒. Let's just wait and see what happens next before getting our expectations in check... or not 🤷‍♂️

I'm getting chills just thinking about Mark Hamill reprising as Luke... it's like we're still 20 years ago when "Return of the Jedi" was out 😎. I remember watching that movie for the first time on VHS, mesmerized by Hamill's performance 📼. Now, imagine him exploring more stories from Luke's past - it's like a dream come true! 💫 I mean, who wouldn't want to see more of the iconic Jedi Knight? It's crazy how much nostalgia this news is stirring up in me... brings back memories of playing "Star Wars" video games as a kid 🎮. Fingers crossed that this spin-off series happens and we get to see more of Luke's adventures! 🤞

I'm so down for a Luke Skywalker show! 🤩 It'd be awesome to see more of his journey as a Jedi and maybe even some funny moments like when Hamill laughed at Acosta's Darth Vader impression 😂. I feel like there are still plenty of stories to be told within the Star Wars universe, and Luke's character has so much depth to him. Plus, who wouldn't want to see more of Mark Hamill as the wise and powerful Jedi? 🤓

omg, I'm so over this Star Wars spin-off craze 🤦‍♂️. I mean, can't we just leave Luke's story alone? He's already got an epic arc from hero to legend in the original trilogy. What more is there to explore? Don't get me wrong, Mark Hamill seems like a cool guy and all, but come on... 🙄

I'm not saying I don't want to see more of Luke, but let's be real, we've got enough stories to tell with Rey, Finn, Poe, and the rest of the new gen. And what's up with these spin-offs? It feels like Disney's just trying to milk Star Wars for all it's worth 🤑. Can't they just focus on creating some decent, cohesive storylines instead of churning out random series and movies?

I guess only time will tell if this Luke Skywalker spin-off thing is gonna happen, but I'm not holding my breath 😐.

I'm not sure I buy this whole Luke Skywalker spin-off thing... I mean, we're already feeling like we've seen it all with the original trilogy 🤔. Don't get me wrong, Mark Hamill is a legend and I love him as much as the next guy, but do we really need more of Luke's story? It just feels like another way to cash in on the 'Star Wars' brand 💸. And what about the other characters from the original trilogy? We barely scratched their surfaces back then 🤷‍♂️. I'm not saying it couldn't be done well, but I need to see some more substance behind this idea before I get excited 😐.

I'm telling you, this is just a setup for them to bring out the merchandising machine 🤑. First, it's Luke Skywalker spin-offs, next thing you know they'll be releasing "Mark Hamill's Adventures in Jedi Space" T-shirts 🚀. And what's up with Jim Acosta doing that Darth Vader impression? Dude's gotta have an agenda... maybe he's trying to distract us from the real story 😏. I mean, Mark Hamill's been saying some weird stuff about AI and machine learning lately, so you never know... could be a way for them to push their agenda on us 🤖.

I'm so down for a Luke Skywalker spin-off! I mean, can you imagine seeing more of his journey from Obi-Wan to becoming a hero in his own right? 🤔 And omg the idea of Mark Hamill reprising as Darth Vader is too funny 😂 he's like the ultimate fanboy lol. But seriously, it would be awesome to see more of Luke's growth and development as a character. The Skywalker saga is still so iconic and beloved, I'd love to dive deeper into his story 🚀

I think it's awesome that Mark Hamill wants to tell more stories about Luke's past 🤩! I mean, who wouldn't want to hear more about how he became a Jedi? 🚀 It's like he's still got that spark in him and is excited to share it with the world. And omg, Jim Acosta's Darth Vader impression was hilarious 😂! I can just imagine Hamill laughing his head off during that interview. It's great to see Mark Hamill being so enthusiastic about a potential spin-off series - fingers crossed we get to see more of Luke Skywalker on screen soon 🚫

I'm like 100% sure Mark Hamill would be totally wrong for a Luke Skywalker spin-off... I mean, who wants to see an older Luke just messing around? But at the same time, can you imagine how cool it'd be to see Luke's past adventures on screen? It could be kinda awesome! 🤔 The problem is, if they did make it happen, would it still feel like 'Star Wars' or would it just be a weird side story? 🤷‍♂️ And what if it was just a bunch of old flashbacks with no actual plot? That'd be so boring... unless it had some epic space battles! 🚀

omg i cant even believe this news!!! mark hamill is literally the most iconic as luke skywalker and if they ever make a spin-off series around him i will totally binge watch it 🚀🔥 he's been in so many projects over the years but this one would be my fave tho, just imagine more stories about luke's adventures before he met obi wan or after he became a hero 🤩 i'd love to see hamill's take on his character again and also i'm curious about what kind of storyline they could come up with now that we know so much more about the star wars universe 👀👍

I think it would be awesome if they did make a show just about Luke's past 🤔. I mean, we've seen him as an old man in The Last Jedi, but there's gotta be some crazy stories from when he was a young Padawan that we could see on screen. And Mark Hamill is so funny, I can imagine the show would be hilarious too 😂. It's also cool to think about how they might connect it to other parts of the Star Wars universe... maybe even introduce some new characters? The more I think about it, the more excited I get for a potential Luke Skywalker spin-off! 🚀

omg this is like totally happening!!! i need luke back in the game ASAP 🤩, mark hamill's got the skills and the passion to bring some serious depth to that character. a spin-off series would be EPIC 🔥, imagine exploring all the little moments and backstory we never got to see in the films. and can you imagine hamill's reaction when acosta does his darth vader impression lol 😂 mark hamill for life!
