Shane Gillis to develop new projects with Netflix under multi-year deal

Netflix has inked a multi-year deal with comedian Shane Gillis and his production partner John McKeever to develop new projects for the streaming giant. The partnership comes as the duo behind popular comedy series "Tires" begins production on its third season, with 12 episodes scheduled for release later this year.

Gillis and McKeever will have a significant hand in shaping Netflix's comedy content, including developing films, series, and unscripted projects under their Dad Sick Productions banner. The deal also includes two more stand-up comedy specials for Gillis, following his critically acclaimed "Beautiful Dogs" special in 2023, which spent two weeks on the U.S. top 10 list.

The third season of "Tires" is set to premiere later this year and follows the show's formula of Will (played by Steve Gerben) attempting to get his family's auto repair business back on its feet with the help – or hindrance – of his cousin and employee Shane (played by Gillis). Production for the series has taken place mostly in West Chester, with each episode directed by McKeever.

Gillis, a native of Mechanicsburg and a graduate of West Chester University, has made it clear his Philadelphia roots are deeply ingrained in his comedy. With this new deal, Netflix is further embracing its connection to the city through Gillis' irreverent humor and relatable storytelling.

The partnership was welcomed by Tracey Pakosta, vice president of comedy series for Netflix's U.S. market, who praised Gillis' unique ability to find humor in everyday life. "Shane Gillis' unapologetic comedy and knack for finding humor in everyday life is what sets him apart," she said. "With 'Tires,' he and John McKeever have turned that same raw, unfiltered energy into a show that feels familiar to many people."

As part of the deal, Netflix has expressed excitement about continuing its partnership with Gillis and McKeever, which promises to bring more of their irreverent comedy to audiences worldwide. With "Tires" and other new projects in the works, fans can expect to see more of Gillis' signature style and humor on the streaming giant's platform.

I'm so stoked that they're gonna bring more of their irreverent humor to the streaming giant. I mean, who doesn't love "Tires" though? 🀣 Steve Gerben as Will and Shane Gillis as his cousin Shane is just pure gold. The way he can find humor in everyday life is what sets him apart from other comedians, don't you think? πŸ€” #ComedyLegend #DadSickProductions #NewDeal

Netflix knows how to tap into the right talent and Gillis and McKeever's partnership is a win-win πŸŽ‰πŸ’―. Fans can expect more hilarious content with his unique style and humor πŸ’₯ #TiresSeason3 #ShaneGillisComedy #NetflixSeries

OMG y'all I'm so stoked about this news! 🀩 Netflix is finally giving Shane Gillis the love he deserves after his hilarious "Beautiful Dogs" special in 2023. The dude's got a way of making us laugh with his Philly roots and everyday life stories, you know? πŸ˜‚ And now with this multi-year deal he's gonna be bringing more of that same energy to Netflix! πŸŽ‰ I'm hyped for the new season of "Tires" especially since it's already getting a third season - 12 episodes?! That's lit! πŸ’₯ Can't wait to see what other projects he and John McKeever come up with next, this is gonna be so much fun to watch. 🎬

πŸ€” I'm so over these celebrity deals on Netflix... like who cares about Shane Gillis' personal life? Can't they just focus on making some decent content instead of shelling out big bucks for a bunch of ego-maniacs πŸ€‘? And don't even get me started on the production process - 12 episodes in one season, that's just crazy talk! What's wrong with a slow burn like some good old-fashioned TV writing? And what's up with all these "stand-up comedy specials"? Can't they just stick to making decent shows instead of catering to the egos of their favorite comedians? πŸ™„

πŸ€” I think this is awesome news for Netflix! πŸŽ‰ Their deal with Shane Gillis and John McKeever is a great way to bring some fresh comedy content to their platform. πŸ’ͺ I mean, who doesn't love a good laugh? πŸ˜‚ And the fact that they're embracing their connection to Philly through Gillis' humor is really cool. πŸ‘ It's like they're saying "Hey, we've got local flavor!" πŸŽ‰ The partnership also reminds me of how important it is for streaming services to support creators who bring unique perspectives and styles to the table. πŸ’‘ Like, Gillis has a way of finding humor in everyday life that resonates with people. That's what makes him special. 🌟 I'm excited to see what they come up with next! πŸ€”

Here's a little diagram to illustrate my point:

This little diagram shows the partnership between Netflix and Gillis/McKeever, with a big plus sign to represent their deal. The boxes around them show how they'll be working together to create more comedy content for Netflix! πŸŽ‰

πŸ€” You know what's wild, I just saw a video of a guy who's trying to break the record for most hamburgers eaten in one sitting... like, 72 burgers?! πŸ”πŸ˜² My friend from high school is actually training to be a firefighter and he's been working out nonstop. Have you ever tried those protein shakes that are supposed to help you build muscle? I'm not saying they don't work, but my cousin's neighbor has been drinking them for years and his muscles look kinda... suspicious πŸ˜‚. And what's up with the popularity of those retro video games again? My little brother still plays them all day... anyway, Shane Gillis' comedy specials are going to be available on Netflix πŸ“Ί

πŸ“Š Just thought about this - Shane Gillis has a 72% approval rating from Netflix audience 🀩 compared to his average rating of 65% across all comedy specials. That's pretty impressive! πŸ’― His "Beautiful Dogs" special got 4.5/5 stars on IMDB, which is crazy for a stand-up comedy special 🀯

As for the number of viewers watching comedy specials on Netflix, they've been steadily increasing over the past year - from 10 million in Q1 2023 to 15 million in Q1 2024 πŸ“ˆ That's a 50% growth rate! πŸ’Έ

Also, did you know that the average Netflix viewer spends around 8 hours per week binge-watching their favorite shows? πŸ“Ί And with comedy being one of the most popular genres on the platform, I'd say this deal is gonna be huge for Gillis and Dad Sick Productions! 😎

man... thinkin bout this deal between Netflix and Shane Gillis πŸ€”... what does it say about our society that we're so hungry for comedy that we'll pay millions for it? is it a cry for connection in a world that feels too serious? or are we just desperate to laugh at ourselves, flaws and all? the fact that Gillis' humor is so relatable, yet still manages to be raw and unfiltered... it's like he's speaking straight to our souls 🌎... but what does that say about us as a culture?

idk why netflix is so hyped about shane gillis, he's just a dude who talks funny lol 🀣 i mean don't get me wrong, his comedy is decent but it's not like he's breaking new ground or anything. he's got a formula and that's what he's sticking to with "tires" – same old same old πŸ™„ it's gonna be cool if he can bring that relatable humor thing to more projects tho, maybe we'll see some growth from him

omg I'm so stoked for Shane Gillis 🀩 he's literally one of my fave comedians from school (I took improv class with him lol) and now Netflix is gonna let him create even more sick content πŸ“ΊπŸŽ‰ I mean, his show "Tires" is already super funny but now we get to see more of his raw energy and humor 🀣 can't wait for the new season to drop later this year πŸ’₯

Man, this deal between Netflix and Shane Gillis is like, a reflection of our society's obsession with authenticity. I mean, think about it, we're living in an era where people are craving realness, and comedians like Gillis are giving it to us straight up 🀣. His Philly roots are so integral to his comedy, it's like he's speaking directly to the hearts of people who grew up in those same streets. It's beautiful to see how Netflix is embracing that connection and giving fans more of what they love. But at the same time, I wonder if we're losing something in the process? Are we so focused on authenticity that we're sacrificing nuance and complexity for the sake of "realness"? πŸ€”

I mean, Gillis' comedy may be irreverent and relatable, but is it always clever or insightful? Does he take risks with his humor, or does he play it safe to appease his audience? These are questions we need to ask ourselves when we're cheering on comedians who are pushing the boundaries of what's acceptable. And that's why this deal with Netflix feels like a double-edged sword - it's giving Gillis and McKeever the freedom to create, but also risks perpetuating a culture of low-brow humor πŸ€·β€β™‚οΈ.

omg just what we need more hilarious content from shane gillis πŸ€£πŸŽ‰ his dad sick productions is gonna bring so much laughter & entertainment to netflix πŸ“ΊπŸ’₯ can't wait for the new season of "tires" & more stand-up specials πŸ€¦β€β™‚οΈπŸŽ€ this partnership is a win-win for fans like me who love shane's irreverent humor πŸ˜‚πŸ‘

OMG 🀯 I'm low-key stoked about this deal, you feel? Like Netflix is all about pushing out new content and giving creators like Shane Gillis a chance to shine. And let's be real, "Tires" has been a sleeper hit, right? πŸ€‘ I love how they're embracing Gillis' Philly roots and incorporating that into the shows – it's like they're speaking straight to your soul, you know? πŸ˜‚ Can't wait for more of his irreverent humor and relatable storytelling on the platform... and two more stand-up specials? Yaaas, please! 🎀

🀣 just watched Shane Gillis' stand-up special and I'm DYING 🀯 he's got this relatable energy that's so infectious πŸ˜‚ his Philly roots are shining through in every bit of comedy πŸ’ͺ love how Netflix is giving him a chance to share his humor with the world 🌎 can't wait for the third season of "Tires" it's gonna be lit πŸ”₯ and with John McKeever on board, we know it's gonna be good πŸ‘ πŸ’•

omg just saw that shane gillis is making a 3rd season of tires and i'm SO down πŸ€£πŸŽ‰ it's like he's finally gonna take west chester by storm lol anyway, can't wait for more of his comedy specials and new projects on netflix πŸ“ΊπŸ‘

idk why netflix is shelling out big bucks for more comedy shows... seems like just another fad πŸ€”. Shane Gillis has some good material, don't get me wrong, but can we really rely on "dads making bad life choices" as a joke format? it feels like every 5th show these days is doing the same thing. and 2 more stand-up specials? are they not getting enough from their last one? πŸ€‘ i'm just saying, maybe we should wait and see how this whole "comedy dynasty" thing pans out before we start hyping it up...

I'm so stoked about this deal between Netflix and Shane Gillis 🀩. I mean, who doesn't love a good laugh? And Shane's comedy is just that - relatable and hilarious πŸ˜‚. I've seen his stand-up specials, and he's got this raw energy that just draws you in. Plus, it's awesome to see him representing his Philly roots on Netflix πŸ‡΅πŸ‡¦. The fact that they're working on new projects, including more stand-up specials and a third season of "Tires", is just exciting news for fans like me πŸ‘. I'm curious to see what else they'll come up with under Dad Sick Productions πŸ’‘. Can't wait to binge-watch more of Shane's comedy goodness πŸ“Ί!
