Spice up your life! 17 soups with a kick – from chicken curry laksa to roast pumpkin

I'm so over soups when I need something hot and comforting 🍲😴 but then this list came out and I'm in love with all these spicy options! Carrot soup is a game-changer, who knew?! And what's up with parsnips being an underdog? 🤷‍♀️ Angela Hartnett's spicy parsnip soup has me sold - I need to make that ASAP!

I'm also loving the idea of using up leftover veggies like parsnips and cauliflower. It's all about reducing food waste, right? And those international flavors are just what we need to spice things up. Turkish pul biber chilli flakes in mussel soup... genius! 🤓

🤔 I mean, have you guys tried adding some ghost pepper to carrot soup? Game. Changer. 🔥 Trust me, it's an eye-opener... and not in a good way 😂. But seriously, who needs cumin and coriander when you can just add some hot sauce? 🍜 Just kidding, kind of. The thing is, people get so caught up in trying to recreate these "traditional" spice combinations that they forget it's all about experimenting and finding what works for YOU. So go ahead, try adding a random ingredient and see what happens... you never know! 😄

omg i just tried out delia smith's curried parsnip and apple soup 🤤 it was SO good!! i was skeptical at first cuz apples in a savory soup but now its one of my fave comfort foods lol the combination of spices is everything

🍲 I'm loving this article about soups! You know what's just not right though - "game-changer" should probably be "game changer". Just a small correction, but it makes all the difference. Anyway, I think it's awesome how they're highlighting different spices and ingredients to give our humble carrot and lentil soups a boost of flavor. Have you tried any of these recipes? And I'm intrigued by this idea that sometimes simplicity is the best policy - Anna Jones' green peppercorn soup sounds like just what I need for a cozy night in 🤗

🍲 I love how this article highlights all these amazing soups we can make with everyday veggies. You know what would take them to the next level though? 🤔 Adding some comforting carbs like crusty bread or warm noodles to soak up all those delicious broths. My kids are always asking me for noodle soup when they're feeling under the weather, and this article has got me thinking of trying out some new recipes with parsnips and lentils! 👍

I'm not sure I buy into this whole 'spice up your life' vibe 🤔. I mean, what's with all these soups and where are the sources? Where did they get that info from? And how do we know it's accurate? The recipe for Nigel Slater's spicy carrot soup is just a link to an article... does it really say 'a pinch of heat can transform a humble ingredient like carrot or lentil into a flavor sensation'? I'm not convinced 😐. Can we trust the authors and the websites they're citing? Shouldn't we be looking at some proper research or studies on soup spices? 🤔
