Strong winds cause skiers to go off trail on Mt. Moosilauke

Rescue Efforts Underway After Skiers Lost on Mt. Moosilauke Due to Severe Weather Conditions.

Two skiers were stranded on the slopes of New Hampshire's Mt. Moosilauke on Saturday, their situation exacerbated by low visibility and fierce winds that reduced the mountain to a blizzard-like environment.

A call was made to the New Hampshire Fish and Game department at around 5 pm, reporting two missing skiers off-trail on the mountain. Conservation Officers and members of the Pemigewasset Valley Search and Rescue Team (PemiSAR) sprang into action, utilizing snowmobiles to navigate four miles up the mountain before venturing into the woods on snowshoes for an additional 1.5 miles.

The search team's efforts culminated in a successful rescue at approximately 11 pm, where officers located the stranded pair and safely escorted them down the mountain by 2 am. The swift response from the search party ensured that both skiers were returned to safety, with no reported injuries or fatalities.

This incident serves as a stark reminder of the dangers posed by severe weather conditions on New England's mountains, underscoring the importance of vigilance and preparedness for those venturing into such environments.

Ugh, can't even go skiing without risking your life πŸ€¦β€β™€οΈ. I mean, seriously, who goes off-trail in a blizzard? Sounds like they should've had a map (and not just the kind that comes with a fancy resort brochure) πŸ—ΊοΈ. Glad to hear the rescue team showed up when they did though - it's always a good idea to have some professionals on standby when you're wandering into the wilderness unprepared ❄️. Just remember, folks: if you're gonna venture into the mountains without proper gear or knowledge, don't be surprised when Mother Nature gives you a serious talking-to πŸŒͺ️.

.. can you imagine being out there, snowblind, and just trying to make it back down the mountain? It's like, your senses are all muddled, and you're not even sure if you're heading in the right direction... and then to have to rely on others to find you? It's a sobering thought. I mean, we take our freedom to roam for granted, but what happens when nature decides to test us?

It just goes to show that even with all the tech and gadgets we've got, we're still human, and we need each other to get through the tough times. The rescuers out there were like superheroes, fighting against the elements to save those two skiers... it's a reminder to always be mindful of our surroundings and look out for each other πŸ’‘

omg u cant even imagine being stuck up there in that mess 🌨️😩 i mean seriously, low visibility is one thing but fierce winds? thats like something out of a horror movie lol what if they werent found till it was too late?? its such a relief that those 2 skiers are safe and sound now πŸ’ͺ🏼😌 but still gotta give props to the search party for movin fast and gettin the job done 4 them, their bravery & skill is def not something to be taken lightly πŸ™ŒπŸ½β„οΈ

πŸ˜• I remember skiing at Bretton Woods back in '02 and it was always super chill... but I guess that's not the case anymore πŸ€¦β€β™‚οΈ. Severe weather on Mt Moosilauke? That's just crazy! Those skiers were lucky to get rescued, 1.5 miles of snowshoeing?! What if they got lost again? 🀯 It's a good reminder to always check the forecast and be prepared before hitting the slopes. I've heard those New Hampshire mountains can be treacherous even on a clear day... now it's like they're in a different world up there 😲.

I'm so glad they got rescued! I mean, can you even imagine being stuck up there with no visibility? 😱 It's crazy how quickly things can turn bad in the mountains like that. They're really lucky to have had a team of experienced rescuers who knew exactly what to do. And I've gotta say, it's always a bummer when those weather conditions make it hard for people to enjoy the great outdoors... or, you know, just plain ol' live their lives πŸ˜’.

πŸ˜” Those poor skiers must've been so scared & disoriented in that blizzard 🌨️... I can only imagine how daunting it must've felt to be lost on the mountain with no clear path forward πŸ˜•. It's a huge relief they were found safely, and I hope they're doing alright now πŸ’•. It's also a good reminder for all us outdoor enthusiasts to check in with each other before heading out into rough weather πŸ“ž... safety always comes first, right? πŸ€—

OMG I'M SO GLAD THOSE TWO SKIERS WERE RESCUED!!! πŸ˜±πŸ‚ i mean like seriously they were lost in a blizzard with like no visibility whatsoever it's crazy how fast the weather can change and make you lose sight of where you are 🌨️. i've been to new hampshire a few times and i know those mountains are not to be messed with ❄️. anyway i'm just glad everyone is safe and sound now πŸ’•, it's always a good reminder for us outdoor enthusiasts to stay prepared and have a plan B (or c, or whatever 🀣) in case of emergencies ⚠️!

❄️ can't believe these skiers ventured out in this mess 🀯 low visibility and fierce winds are no joke. Glad they got rescued safely tho πŸ™, but honestly, shouldn't they've checked the forecast before hitting the slopes? πŸ˜’ all this drama and it's just a typical winter day in NH...

🌨️ I'm so relieved that both skiers were rescued safely! The thought of being stranded in those harsh conditions with low visibility is just chilling πŸ’”. It really puts into perspective how quickly things can go wrong when we're out enjoying nature πŸ”οΈ. As an outdoors enthusiast myself, I always make sure to check the weather forecast before heading up mountains and to carry plenty of supplies, just in case πŸ“†. The fact that this rescue team was so well-prepared and swift in their response is a testament to their training and dedication πŸ’•. We should all be grateful for such heroic efforts! πŸ‘

I'm totally stoked that the skiers were rescued 🀩, but at the same time I'm really annoyed that they got lost in the first place πŸ™„... like, shouldn't they've known better than to venture off-trail on a crazy snow day ❄️? And what's up with all these severe weather warnings being issued, is nobody paying attention anymore? πŸ€” It's just so frustrating when people put themselves and others at risk due to their own carelessness or lack of planning... but on the other hand, I'm also super grateful for the amazing work done by the search team – they're total heroes! πŸ‘

Ugh, great timing, skiers πŸ€¦β€β™‚οΈ. Like, who goes skiing in a blizzard? That's just asking to get lost up a mountain with no phone signal and freezing your bums off ❄️. I mean, I guess it's good that the search team was on top of it (literally), but seriously, can't people just check the weather forecast before heading out? πŸ€” At least they made it out alive, which is more than I can say for some hiking trips I've been on πŸ˜‚. Just a heads up to all you thrill-seekers: bring your parka and a map... and don't forget your sense of humor πŸ˜….

Ugh man, I was watching this all go down live on TV last night πŸ“ΊπŸ˜¬ and it's just so crazy that these two skiers got stuck in that snowstorm. I mean, I'm glad they made it out alive tho πŸ’ͺ🏼. But you know what's even crazier? It feels like just yesterday I was watching the Olympics on NBC πŸ…πŸ“Ί. Remember when snowboarding was all new and exciting back in 2010? Now we got all sorts of crazy sports and tech πŸ˜‚πŸ’». Anyways, glad it turned out okay for these two skiers! They must've been so cold tho β„οΈπŸ˜΅

Blizzard warning is literally the worst 😩. Just imagine being out there in that mess with no visibility & nearfreezing temps... 2 skiers getting stuck on Mt Moosilauke is super lucky to not have ended badly πŸ™. Rescuers did amazing job, gotta give them props! But it's just another reminder to always check the forecast before hitting the slopes & to know what your limits are. Don't wanna be that person who gets caught off guard like those 2 skiers πŸ€¦β€β™€οΈ.

I'm so glad to hear that both skiers were rescued safely! πŸ™ I mean, can you even imagine being stuck up there in a storm? It's crazy enough when it happens to experienced people, but when it's just two normal guys who love skiing... no, thanks! πŸ˜‚ The rescue team did an amazing job, and I'm so grateful they were equipped with snowmobiles and whatnot. You can't beat the sense of community in places like New Hampshire, where everyone comes together to help each other out. The PemiSAR Team is literally heroes 🀩, and I hope those skiers are doing okay now that they're back on solid ground! ⛷️

🌨️ just read about 2 skiers who got lost on mt moosilauke in NH and i'm glad they were found safe! you gotta be super careful when it's snowing or freezing up there, visibility is almost zero πŸ€¦β€β™‚οΈ. think people need to check the forecast and be honest with themselves if they can handle the conditions 🌊. btw, why do ppl keep doing this stuff? like, isn't it obvious when you're lost in a blizzard πŸ™„

I'm like totally stoked that they were able to find those skiers in time 😊, but at the same time, I'm thinking... shouldn't they've been more careful? Like, isn't it pretty basic to check the weather forecast before heading out on a ski trip? πŸ€” And what's with these search teams always getting hailed as heroes? Don't they get tired of being in the spotlight all the time? πŸ’β€β™€οΈ I mean, it's not like they're doing anything crazy or unusual... just searching for people who got lost because of bad weather. It's literally just part of the job, right? πŸ™„

🚨 I'm shocked they got stuck that bad! Like, who takes off-trail in blizzard mode? πŸ€¦β€β™‚οΈ You gotta know your limits, folks. And what's with the snowmobiles getting stuck too? That's just basic equipment maintenance, right? πŸ˜’ I mean, I love the PemiSAR team for getting them out safely, but it's still a miracle they made it down without any major mishaps. This is why you gotta respect the mountain and its power. It's not worth risking your life, even if you're an experienced skier. πŸ”οΈπŸ’¨
