I'm low-key freaking out about this
. I mean, 40% of jobs being disrupted is crazy talk! I've been following the news on AI for ages, and it's like, you know when you're learning a new skill and it feels exciting? That's what I'd want to feel for my coworkers too
.
I think employers need to step up their game (no pun intended
). They need to be proactive about retraining programs and helping people adapt to the changing job market. It's not like this is coming out of the blue – we've seen AI take over customer service jobs, bookkeeping, and even some medical tasks.
I went to a workshop last year where they taught us about basic coding skills, and it was actually pretty cool
. I feel kinda confident that I can learn more if my employer invests in me. But what about those who don't have the means or resources to upskill? That's like, super concerning
.
I'd love to hear from people who have been through this – how did you handle it? Were there any support systems in place? What would you've liked to see from your employer?
