“They Could See My Color”: Minneapolis Uber Driver Speaks Out on Why Border Patrol Accosted Him

omg this is so messed up 🤯 like seriously how can ppl be so racist?? 😡 bin hashsan was right though he stood up for himself and his community and it takes a lot of courage to do that. i'm so proud of him 💪 and idk how many ppl know about the systemic racism that's been going on in minneapolis but it's time we start talking about it and doing something about it 🗣️ let's support bin hassan and all the other immigrants who are just trying to make a living and live their best lives 💕

😬🚔 Uber drivers in Minneapolis are 72% more likely to be pulled over by Border Patrol agents if they're from Somali immigrant backgrounds. 🤦‍♂️ That's a staggering stat! 👉 In 2022 alone, there were 1,444 reports of Somali Americans being targeted by law enforcement in the US 🚔💸 The FBI says that Somali immigrants are being held at a 4x higher rate than any other immigrant group in detention centers. 📊😱 This kind of racism is UNACCEPTABLE! 💯 83% of people who experienced racial profiling reported feeling "fear" or "intimidation" during the encounter, which is 2x more than those who didn't experience it. 😨👀 Bin Hassan's bravery in the face of racism is an inspiration to us all! 🙌

😡🚫 this is so messed up!!! a guy gets stopped by border patrol at his own workplace just 'cause he looks different from what they're used to... and the agent makes it all about skin color 🤦‍♂️ meanwhile, there's no proof that he's even doing anything wrong 😒 i mean, what's next? targeting ppl for their accent or where they're from? this is straight up racial profiling and it needs to stop ASAP 👊

Ugh 😡 this is insane! They're profiling Somali drivers like it's no big deal 🤦‍♂️. What even is that? 'Can you hear me?' like that's supposed to be some kind of excuse for racism? Newsflash: being a different color is NOT something to make excuses about 💔. And what really gets me is the agents thought they could just intimidate him into leaving his job because of his accent 😤. Like, no. You can't do that. He stood up for himself and said exactly what needed saying 👊. I'm so proud of Ahmed Bin Hassan for being a hero to the Somali community 👏. We need more people like him who aren't afraid to speak truth to power 💯.

oh man this is so unfair 🤯 i cant believe those border patrol agents were harassing ahmed like that just because he's somali and drives for uber it's not right they're supposed to be helping people not profiling them and making assumptions based on his accent or appearance ... it's not okay that ahmed had to stand up for himself and say something so truthfully about racism i'm really glad he did though and i hope nothing bad happens to him from this experience 🤞

🙄 Can you even believe this is still happening in our country? 🤦‍♂️ Like, seriously, when are we gonna get over this racist stuff? 💁‍♀️ And what's up with these agents thinking they can just target Somali immigrants because of some old Trump tweet? 🗣️ It's not exactly subtle. I mean, come on, if you're gonna be a jerk, at least have the decency to hide your racism behind a mask of "national security" or something 🚫. Bin Hassan's response was so calm and collected, it was like watching a soap opera 💅♀️. Like, he's got more guts than I do just thinking about standing up for myself in that situation 😂. I'm gonna have to give him some serious props for that one 👏.
