I'm literally fumng out over this half a billion dollar price tag

for Trump's urban occupations. Like, who exactly thought it was a good idea to deploy active-duty troops and National Guard members to occupy cities just to silence dissent? It's so not what our military is for

. And the fact that they're using this as some kind of excuse to intimidate marginalized communities is just, like, totally despicable

. I mean, Senator Elizabeth Warren said it best - our National Guard and Marines are needed for real emergencies, not for Trump's petty power trips

.
And let's talk about the money

. Half a billion dollars is just, like, a tiny fraction of what we spend on defense every year

. But no, Trump wants to divert funds away from actual national security threats and into some sort of twisted game of urban occupation

. It's so frustrating because I feel like our democracy is being slowly eroded by this kind of authoritarian behavior

.
I'm also really worried about the implications for press freedom

. If Trump can just deploy troops to silence dissent, what's next? Is he going to start arresting journalists who report on him?

It's a scary thought and I think we need to take action ASAP

. So, I'm totally donating to The Intercept right now

. Who's with me?
