. I mean, how could someone be so selfish and twisted?! He was in a position of power, he had access to people's lives, and he abused that for YEARS. And the fact that it took almost 10 years for him to get caught is just unbelievable. What kind of system allows this to happen?!

They're supposed to be setting a good example for their community, but instead they're showing us that even the most powerful among us can use that power for the worst intentions. It's just heartbreaking to think about the poor ex-wife who went through all that trauma and pain without anyone believing her or doing anything to stop it.

. its mind-boggling how ppl can use their authority to hurt others so badly. the fact that it took almost 2 decades for him to be caught is just wild, what kinda system fails like that?

. we need more stories like this to shine a light on how we can do better in supportin victims and holdin perpetrators accountable 
. i mean, as a councillor, you'd think they'd have more checks in place, but clearly that wasn't the case here. and what really gets me is that his ex-wife had to suffer through all this for nearly 10 years... it's just heartbreaking thinking about it 
. anyway, i guess the fact that he's finally going to face justice is a good start, but we need more than just trials to make sure these things don't happen again
