US congressman meets five-year-old Liam Ramos and his father at ICE detention center – as it happened

🤯 just saw this on twitter and my blood's boiling... a 5 year old kid is being held in detention centre for no reason, just 'cause his parents didn't follow some rule... it's like something straight outta horror movie 🎃 what kinda country are we living in where we're gonna lock up a little boy because his parents took a risk to come here looking for a better life?!? 🤷‍♂️ and then some congressman shows up with a photo op, sharing the love 💕 but honestly it's just a PR stunt at this point... what's Castro really doing to make sure kids like Liam don't end up in this situation again?!? 🤔

man this is wild 🤯, 5 years old and already dealing with this stuff? poor kid's got his whole life ahead of him and now he's stuck in this detention center with no idea when or if he'll see his family again 😔. it's crazy that our congress can just keep passing these laws that affect people like Liam without even considering the human impact 🤷‍♂️.

I'm glad Joaquin Castro is trying to bring some attention to this, but we need real change here 💪. I mean, how many times do we have to hear stories like Liam's before we act? it's time for us to take a closer look at our immigration policies and figure out ways to make them more family-friendly 👥.

it's heartbreaking what these kids are going through 🤕, can't we just treat everyone with some dignity and respect? 🙏. I know we're not perfect, but let's try to be better, you feel me? 🤗

just saw this and its heartbreaking 🤕 liam's story is a reminder of how messed up our immigration system is... i mean, a 5-year-old kid gets detained by the authorities just for walking home from preschool? that's not justice, thats just plain cruel 😩 it's great that congressman castro is trying to raise awareness about this issue, but its hard to see real change happening when politicians are more worried about winning elections than fixing problems like this... and liam's depression is a harsh reality of what can happen when families get torn apart 🤯 i wish there was more we could do to help these families, but at the same time, i'm not gonna lie, some people might think immigration reform is too complicated, or that it's just not worth it... i dont know, all im saying is that liam's story needs a lot of attention and action, ASAP 💕
