idk man...
i mean, on one hand, releasing these guys would be a major step towards healing Venezuela's political divisions and showing some serious good faith from the gov't
. but at the same time, how do we know this bill isn't just a way for them to wash their hands of all the bad stuff that went down during chavez's rule?
like, what about the people who were literally tortured or imprisoned without trial? won't they be left out in the cold again?
and then there's the fact that the gov't is only excluding serious crimes from the bill... how can we really trust that this isn't just a ploy to silence their critics and opposition figures without actually making any meaningful changes?
i mean, what if this whole thing is just a PR stunt to distract us from the real issues facing venezuela right now?
anyway...
i guess we'll just have to wait and see how things play out. maybe the gov't will surprise us with some real progress
, or maybe they'll just end up messing it all up again
. either way, i'm still on the fence about this whole thing
