Verizon says major service outage is resolved, affected customers will get $20 credits

Verizon Service Outage Resolved, Affected Customers to Receive $20 Credits

A widespread cell phone outage crippled Verizon service across the US on Wednesday, leaving hundreds of thousands of customers without access to their phones. However, the company said it has now resolved the issue and is working to restore services.

According to Verizon, eligible customers will receive a text message when they can redeem a $20 credit through the myVerizon app. Business customers will be contacted directly about the credits. The outage was particularly severe in New York City, with over 10,000 customers reporting issues at its peak.

Despite the significant disruption, officials said there were no major effects on essential services in the city. The NYPD and FDNY advised affected Verizon customers to use landlines or other carriers for emergency calls during the outage. Additionally, New Yorkers had access to the city's LinkNYC kiosks to make free calls or get online.

However, not everyone was satisfied with Verizon's response to the outage. State Assemblymember Anil Beephan Jr. called on the Federal Communications Commission (FCC) to investigate the "ongoing and repeated" service disruptions in his district and surrounding areas. He warned that the outages have had a significant impact on public safety, including disruptions to emergency communications and critical response systems.

The FCC said it was monitoring the outage but declined to comment further. It remains to be seen whether Beephan's request for an investigation will result in any action by the commission. For now, Verizon customers can rest easy knowing that their service has been restored, and they will receive a $20 credit as compensation for the inconvenience caused by the outage.

Ugh ๐Ÿ™„ I'm so glad Verizon finally fixed the outage! I was literally stuck without my phone all day ๐Ÿ˜ฉ. But $20 credits? It's about time ๐Ÿค‘. I mean, I've been using that money to buy essential wellness products anyway ๐Ÿ’†โ€โ™€๏ธ. Seriously though, this whole situation is super frustrating ๐Ÿคฏ. I know the NYPD and FDNY were there for us, but still... why do these outages happen?! ๐Ÿ“ฑ It's like our phones are connected 24/7, right? ๐Ÿ•ฐ๏ธ. Anyway, at least we can use those LinkNYC kiosks to make calls or get online if we need to ๐ŸŒ. Thanks for looking into this FCC guy ๐Ÿ‘€! We need more transparency and accountability ๐Ÿ’ฏ. Now let's focus on staying present and mindful during these tech-induced stressors ๐Ÿ™.

can't believe verizon is doing this to its customers again ๐Ÿคฏ, first it's outages then they're giving us $20 credits like we're supposed to be grateful ๐Ÿ’ธ, i mean come on, shouldn't they have thought of this before? or maybe they just wanna keep an eye on how much revenue they can squeeze from their customers ๐Ÿค‘

Ugh, I'm glad they finally fixed the issue ๐Ÿ™Œ, but come on $20 credits? That's not even a decent coffee price ๐Ÿ’ธ. And to think those customers were stuck without phone service for who knows how long... it's just frustrating when companies don't prioritize their customers' experience ๐Ÿ˜’. I'm all for holding them accountable though - the FCC should definitely look into this and make sure Verizon is taking necessary steps to prevent these outages in the future ๐Ÿšจ. And kudos to the NYPD and FDNY for having a plan in place, that's what I call good crisis management ๐Ÿ’ช.

I feel bad for those people who got stuck without their phones for so long ๐Ÿ˜”. I mean, can you imagine not being able to reach your loved ones or get help in an emergency? Verizon's response was kinda slow, but at least they fixed the issue and are giving out credits ๐Ÿค‘. But seriously, shouldn't we expect more from our carriers when it comes to reliability? ๐Ÿ’ญ

Just had to deal with this crazy Verizon outage ๐Ÿคฏ! I mean, who doesn't love a good cell phone breakdown, right? ๐Ÿ˜‚ But seriously, it's not cool when you can't even get a call or text to save your life. And then they just resolve the issue and give you a $20 credit like everything's cool โ„๏ธ. Like, thanks Verizon, we'll just pretend this never happened ๐Ÿ™„. Anil Beephan Jr. is right though, these outages can be super serious for public safety and emergency responses. I hope the FCC takes action and gets to the bottom of it ๐Ÿ’ช. Anyway, if you're feeling generous, grab a $20 credit while you can, because who knows when the next outage will hit? ๐Ÿค‘

I donโ€™t usually comment but I was really annoyed when my phone went dead mid-call at work yesterday ๐Ÿ“ž๐Ÿ˜ก. I mean, how are you supposed to get stuff done when your service is down? And 10k+ customers affected in NYC is a big deal ๐Ÿคฏ. I feel bad for all those people who had emergencies and couldnโ€™t reach out for help. Verizon should really step up their game on the reliability side of things ๐Ÿ’ป. $20 credits aren't exactly going to cover the inconvenience, but I guess it's better than nothing ๐Ÿ˜Š. Can we expect more frequent checks from the FCC? ๐Ÿค”

omg did you guys ever try those linkNYC kiosks? i mean i know verizon had an outage but have you seen how cool those kiosks are? like you can make calls, get online, and even access maps and stuff on them! it's like a mini-library for your phone ๐Ÿ“ฑ๐Ÿ’ป anyway back to verizon... $20 credits sound nice, but i feel bad for the business customers who got left in the dark ๐Ÿค‘

I'm not surprised that Verizon is getting roasted for this latest outage ๐Ÿคฆโ€โ™‚๏ธ. I mean, come on, $20 credits just isn't enough considering how long people were without service. And what's up with all these "ongoing and repeated" outages? It's like they're trying to test the system or something. Anil Beephan Jr is right to be upset - public safety shouldn't be compromised by a company's incompetence. And yeah, it's convenient that New Yorkers had access to LinkNYC kiosks, but let's not pretend that's just a silver lining ๐Ÿคทโ€โ™‚๏ธ. Verizon needs to get their act together and figure out what's going on with their service. $20 credits might be a nice gesture, but it's not exactly a solution...

Ugh man... can you believe this is how our cell phone services are supposed to work? I mean, I know it's not like we're living in the Dark Ages or anything, but come on Verizon! 1 million customers without service and they just wing it until something fixes? ๐Ÿคฆโ€โ™‚๏ธ

And now they're giving out $20 credits like that's gonna make everything okay? I'm good with a little compensation, but what about those people who were stuck in the dark for hours? What about their work, their families? I feel bad for them. The city even had to resort to using landlines and LinkNYC kiosks for emergencies... what's wrong with our cell phone system?!

I don't know, man... it seems like Verizon is just brushing off this whole thing like it was no big deal. And Anil Beephan Jr.'s request for an FCC investigation? Yeah, that's a good idea. We need some accountability here! ๐Ÿš”๐Ÿ’ป
