War of the Worlds review – HG Wells recast as a fever dream of fear and xenophobia

🤔 I just watched this adaptation and gotta say, it was super trippy! The way they used visuals to convey Travers' thoughts was wild 🌪️, but I didn't really get what was going on with his character's transformation 🤷‍♂️. Like, how did he go from scared victim to angry survivor? It felt kinda rushed 🕰️. And yeah, the sets were super creepy 😳, but I'm not sure if it was just the Martian invasion or our own society's fears 🌎. I mean, didn't they take some liberties with Wells' original novel? 🤔 It's like they took the story and flipped it upside down 🔥. But hey, if you're into that kind of thing, it might be worth checking out 👀

omg i just watched this show and i'm still trying to process everything 🤯 i mean, the visuals were insane!!! the way they used handheld cameras and back projections was like nothing i've ever seen before 📺 but at the same time, i felt kinda meh about the whole plot... it seemed like they took all the alien invasion vibes from war of the worlds and just replaced them with people being afraid of each other 🤝 what's the point of an adaptation that doesn't even acknowledge its roots?!? anyway, if you're feeling adventurous and wanna experience something truly unique, i guess this show might be worth checking out... but don't say i didn't warn you 😅

ugh, I'm so done with these "interpretive" adaptations that just end up being a bunch of artsy nonsense 🙄. Like, seriously, if you're gonna take a classic like 'War of the Worlds' and turn it into some metaphorical exercise about human fears, at least have the decency to actually explore those themes in a meaningful way... instead of just skimming the surface with some shallow, pretentious visuals. I mean, come on, handheld cameras and miniature props? How original 🤣. And don't even get me started on the score - it sounds like someone threw a bunch of electronic beats together and hoped for the best 🎵. Just give me a good old-fashioned sci-fi story any day of the week ⚡️.

🤔🌎 this production sounds like it's trying too hard to make a point, you know? all that visuals and no dialogue just feels like they're hitting us over the head with their message 🙄. I mean, can't we have a more nuanced exploration of our own fears and xenophobia instead of relying on some dude getting knocked off his horse 😂?

I'm so down about this show 🤩! I mean, who wouldn't want to see a twisted version of War of the Worlds that's actually relevant to our lives today? 🌎 It's like they took all the anxiety and unease we're feeling with Brexit and social media and turned it into a Martian invasion 😂. The visuals are insane, love how claustrophobic the sets are - it's like you're trapped in William Travers' paranoid mind 💡. And can we talk about James Hamilton's score? It's like the heartbeat of our collective fear 🤯. My question is, what if this show is just reflecting our own societal fears and not actually commenting on a Martian invasion at all? 🤔 Like, are we just projecting our own xenophobia onto these Martians? That's what I'm trying to figure out 💭
