'When a match is going well, smile': inside the scheme helping ethnic minority referees

I think it's kinda cool that they're trying to help more people from underrepresented groups become refs, but at the same time, I'm not sure if it's gonna work lol 😅. Like, what if the training just makes them more aware of their biases or something? 🤔 And isn't peer-to-peer review just a fancy way of saying "someone else is judging you"? 🙃 But on the other hand, I love that they're trying to tackle observer bias and all that stuff... 🙌. It's like, we need more diversity in refs, but also we need to make sure everyone's being held accountable for their own biases, you know? 💁‍♀️

🤝 Just saw that the Core X programme is doing amazing work for ethnic minority referees! They're literally paving the way for more diversity in the game 🏟️💥 It's so cool to see how structured support, peer-to-peer review, and positive psychology are all combining to create a better experience for these referees. I'm all about #RepresentationMatters and it's awesome to see organizations like Bamref leading the charge! The numbers are already showing progress - nearly 7.5% representation in the professional game is huge 📈 #DiversityInSport #RefereeDevelopment
