Where to Dine in Malibu, From Coastal Classics to New Arrivals

Malibu, a haven for those seeking solace from LA's frenetic pace, boasts an unassuming yet thriving food scene. Beyond its famous beaches and celebrity sightings, it is here that you'll discover a medley of eateries – classic and contemporary alike.

Nobu may be the name on everyone's lips, but its sister spots down the coast remain elusive to those seeking a table. What you will find instead are Malibu restaurants that radiate a relaxed atmosphere, where patrons feel free to 'come as they are.' Shack-style seafood establishments like Malibu Seafood and Neptune's Net showcase the area's oceanic prowess. Then there are the upscale eateries – with breathtaking views of the coastline paired with attentive service, these sophisticated venues offer elegant fare.

The devastating Palisades Fire in January 2025 shook Malibu to its core, leaving businesses reeling from the aftermath of road closures and widespread destruction. Yet, today the city presses on. External support becomes even more vital as the community rebuilds.

Despite decades-old establishments like some of its most popular eateries still standing, newcomers like Clark's Oyster Bar highlight Malibu's untapped potential. This beach town has proven resilient in the face of adversity. A visit to this sun-kissed haven reveals hidden gems – be it an old-school steakhouse slinging ice-cold martinis or a casual cafe serving up LA's most coveted lobster roll.

Whether you're a seasoned foodie or just looking for a fresh catch, Malibu has something for everyone. The area is poised on the cusp of greatness, its dining scene about to take center stage in Southern California's culinary landscape.

Man... reading about Malibu's food scene makes me think about how we're all searching for our own 'haven' – a place where we can just be ourselves and find some peace amidst all the chaos. I mean, those seafood joints down by the beach are like an oasis for the soul. And it's crazy to think that even with the devastating fire last year, they're still managing to rebuild and thrive. It's like Malibu is showing us that even in the face of adversity, we can find a way to heal and come back stronger. I guess what I'm saying is, our food scene here isn't just about eating out – it's about finding community and comfort. 🌊

omg did u see the pics from that Palisades Fire tho?! my heart went out to all those businesses & homes affected 🤕 it's crazy how much damage was done & yet Malibu's still thriving 💪 i mean, Clark's Oyster Bar is a game changer! newbies like that can bring fresh energy 2 the scene & help Malibu shine even brighter 🌟 & yeah, Nobu may be famous but those hidden gems r where it's at for me 👌 lobster rolls are life 🍝

🌊 I'm loving how Malibu is bouncing back from those devastating fires! You can really feel the community spirit here, and it's amazing to see new places popping up alongside the old-school faves. I mean, who wouldn't want to try that lobster roll at a casual cafe? 🍔🦐 But seriously, it's awesome to see external support helping them rebuild. They must be getting some amazing help from neighboring towns and organizations. Now we're just waiting for those sister Nobu spots down the coast to open... fingers crossed! 😅

I'm still trying to wrap my head around this Palisades Fire thing 🤯... one minute it's all sunshine and beach vibes in Malibu, next minute you got fires and destruction everywhere 😢. But I gotta give it up for the community - they're rebuilding and still looking good! 💪 I mean, some of these old-school places are still serving up fresh food like it's nobody's business 🤙. And new spots like Clark's Oyster Bar? Game-changer! 👍 You can tell they're trying to bring something new to the table (pun intended, seafood lovers 😄). All in all, Malibu's got heart and I'm stoked to see what the future holds for this beautiful beach town 🌊.

Wow 🤩 I mean, have you guys tried their lobster roll? It's literally the best thing since sliced bread! And I'm not surprised they were able to bounce back from that fire, Malibu's got a real chill vibe going on. Clark's Oyster Bar sounds like my kind of spot - who doesn't love a good oyster?! Interesting how some places are still standing after all these years... must be the community support 🙌

🤩 still can't believe how fast Malibu changed after that fire 🌪️ my kids are always asking when they can go back to Malibu Seafood and get those fresh seafood platters, it's been a while since they've been able to visit 🐟 the Clark's Oyster Bar sounds super cool too, we need to try it out with the kids 👧🏻👦🏻
