2026 Oscar nominations: The good, the bad, and the ugly - Detroit Metro Times

The Oscars always make me wanna pull my hair out 🤯! I mean, come on, "No Other Choice" is like a masterpiece or something, but noooo, it gets snubbed. And don't even get me started on "F1" and "Frankenstein"... what's with the whole "visually stunning" thing? Is that really all there is to it? Can't they see that there's so much more depth to those films?

And have you seen Yngvill Kolset Haga and Avy Kaufman's work in "Sentimental Value"? Those casting skills are straight fire 🔥. The Academy should be giving them major props, not snubbing them like that.

At the same time, I can kinda understand why they're doing it. I mean, it's all subjective, right? But seriously, there are so many amazing films out there that deserve recognition. And I'm not just talking about "No Other Choice" or "Sinners"... I'm talking about all of them.

I think the Oscars are a big deal because they represent a chance for us to celebrate our creativity and passion as filmmakers. It's like, we're all in this together, right? So maybe instead of getting all snuffy about the snubs, we should just be stoked that there are so many great films out there to watch and enjoy.

Anyway, if you haven't seen some of these movies yet, you totally need to check them out. "Sinners" is a game-changer 🤯, and Timothée Chalamet in "Marty Supreme"... wow. And those animated shorts? Mind blown 🎥.

omg i'm so frustrated with these oscar nominations 🤯! park chan-wook's "no other choice" was robbed, tbh 👎. it's such a deep and complex film that deserves more recognition. and what's up with the snub for yngvill kolset haga and avy kaufman's amazing casting work? 🤔 they were totally deserving of nominations.

i also feel bad for some lesser-known films like "eddington" and "the life of chuck". they may not have had the same level of production value as some other movies, but their stories are still so worth telling 📚. and can we talk about how "sinners" got 16 nominations despite being a fantasy film? 🤷‍♀️ it's like the academy is trying to make up for something.

anyway, i do have to say that ethan hawke's nomination for "blue moon" was well-deserved 🎥. his performance was so emotional and nuanced. and if you haven't seen "sinners" yet, trust me, it's a must-see ✨. just don't expect the academy to get everything right all the time 😂.

🤯 I'm literally still fuming about those snubbed films 🙄... like, what's wrong with the Oscars?! "No Other Choice" is a MASTERPIECE and it gets no love? 😡 Park Chan-wook is one of the most talented directors out there and his work deserves so much more recognition. And don't even get me started on those two films that were nominated for Best Picture... "F1" and "Frankenstein"? 🤔 come on, guys! How can you compare them to a film like "No Other Choice"? It's just elitism at its finest 🚫

And the snubs just keep coming... Yngvill Kolset Haga and Avy Kaufman deserve so much more recognition for their amazing casting work in "Sentimental Value". I mean, what is it about popularity over merit that the Academy values so much? 😒 It's just not right. And what about all those other deserving films like "Train Dreams" and "Black Bag"? 🤷‍♀️ it's like they're invisible or something

But hey, at least there are some good ones to look out for... like "Sinners", which is a total game-changer (despite being in the fantasy genre). And Timothée Chalamet's performance in "Marty Supreme" is just... wow 🤯. So yeah, I guess the Oscars may not always get everything right, but that doesn't mean we shouldn't celebrate great art and innovative filmmaking 🎥💫

omg I'm so done with the Oscars snubbing "No Other Choice"!!! Park Chan-wook is a genius and that film deserves so much recognition! 🙄 it's like the Academy just doesn't get it 😒 and what's up with the nomination of "F1" and "Frankenstein"? 🤔 they're pretty but where's the substance? 🙃 meanwhile, lesser-known films are getting snubbed left and right... it's like the Oscars only care about popular culture 🎬

omg i am still trying to process the oscar noms 🤯 like what happened to park chan-wook's "no other choice"? it was one of my fave films of 2024 and now it's just a snub 🙄 and don't even get me started on yngvill kolset haga and avy kaufman not getting nominated for their casting work in "sentimental value" i mean, come on academy! you can't ignore that kind of talent 😂

anywayz i do think ethan hawke's nom for best actor is super well-deserved 🙌 his performance in "blue moon" was literally breathtaking. and "sinners" getting 16 noms is kinda surprising, but at the same time i guess it's good that they're recognizing fantasy films 🤷‍♀️

but yeah, some of these snubs are just wild 🤯 like what's wrong with you academy? can't you see that these films are actually really good?! 😂
