I'm not really sure what's going on with tech companies these days
. I mean, they're always making huge announcements about how they're changing the world and stuff, but sometimes it feels like they're just rehashing the same old ideas.
Take this latest "breakthrough" in AI for example. We've had promises of super-smart machines that can do all sorts of things from cooking to curing cancer, and yet we still can't even get them to have a decent conversation without stumbling over their own words
. It's like they're trying to fool us into thinking these things are ready for prime time when really they're just toys.
And don't even get me started on the whole "transparent" thing
. Companies claim that all their research is open and available, but what we actually see is a bunch of vague press releases with buzzwords like "innovation" and "disruption". I mean, come on guys, give us some real insight into how these things work or don't work.
Anyway, I guess what I'm saying is that I need to be more critical when it comes to all this tech hype
. We need to stop getting so caught up in the excitement and start paying attention to the actual details
.
