When Duty Calls: Conquering Thursday's Pips Puzzle
It's Thursday, and I'm running on fumes after a morning of intense hot yoga and personal training. All I want to do is curl up with a nap, but there's a puzzle waiting for me - the daily Pips challenge. Let's get started.
For those new to Pips, the game involves a grid filled with multicolored boxes representing different conditions that must be met. Players have a limited number of dominoes to fill in the grid, and each domino can only fit in one specific spot. The goal is to use every domino without fail and meet every condition.
The Easy tier puzzle was relatively straightforward, but the Medium difficulty puzzle proved to be a bit more challenging. It requires a combination of logical thinking and spatial reasoning to figure out how to fit the dominoes together. Fortunately, there's only one correct solution for each tier.
Now it's time to move on to the Hard tier puzzle, which is where things get really tricky. This puzzle takes trial and error to solve, but with patience and persistence, you can crack it. The starting point is crucial - using up your dominoes efficiently right from the beginning will make all the difference.
To beat today's hard Pips, start by placing a 0/4 domino in the Purple < 2 group, followed by another 0/3 domino into the Pink 9 group. Next, place a 6/5 domino from Pink 9 up into Dark Blue = and a 5/3 domino from Dark Blue = into Orange =.
Then, add a 4/4 domino to Purple = and a 4/3 domino down from Purple = into Orange -. Place the 6/6 domino in the bottom two tiles of Green > 16. Finally, fit a 6/3 domino from Green > 16 into Orange - and a 4/5 domino from the free tile into Pink > 4.
That's it! With these steps, you should be able to solve today's Pips puzzle. Remember, practice makes perfect, so don't get discouraged if you need a few tries to figure it out.
