Only Two Theaters Have Sold-Out 'Melania' Opening Day Screenings, Despite Lavish Promotion Efforts.
A recent analysis of nearly 1,400 showtimes for the Amazon Prime Video original film "Melania" found that there are still plenty of seats available unless you live near two specific theaters: AMC Classic Indian River 24 in Vero Beach, Florida, and AMC Independence Commons 20 in Independence, Missouri.
Despite President Donald Trump's and production studio Amazon MGM Studios' efforts to promote the film, only a handful of showtimes have sold out. The movie is about Trump's third wife Melania, with a trailer featuring her walking around various grand rooms while wearing sunglasses.
The White House hosted a special screening for a group of CEOs before the film's release. Amazon spent $40 million on the rights and another $35 million in marketing.

I mean, you'd think with all those millions of dollars invested in marketing and promotion, more theaters would be sold out by now. It just goes to show that the system can't guarantee box office success no matter how much money is spent on advertising. I guess it's not a bad thing for the film, though - if people aren't lining up around the block, maybe they're actually going to watch it critically and not just mindlessly follow the crowd. And let's be real, Amazon MGM Studios has proven that they can promote something without breaking the bank... or in this case, spending $75 million on a movie 
! I mean, you'd think with all the money they spent ($75 million total) and all that promo fuss, more people would be flocking to theaters. But for real tho, I guess that just means we're gonna have a chill night in or something

. I mean, I've seen some pricey flicks before but this one takes the cake. Trump's wife getting her own biopic and Amazon shelling out like that you'd think there'd be more buzz around it. Guess you need to live near those two Indian River and Independence theaters in Florida and Missouri to get a seat

those two theaters in florida and missouri must be like super popular or something! but seriously, 40 mil on marketing seems a lot for one movie. maybe the film just isnt that good? i mean we dont know anything about it except its about melania. u think amazon made a bad investment

... But I guess some people just aren't that into Melania's life story. The film itself has all this lavish production value - fancy sets, sunglasses-wearing Melania strutting around... it should've been more of a draw, you know? And yet, those two theaters in Vero Beach and Independence are basically the only ones with sold-out showtimes. Maybe the US box office just isn't ready for this film yet?
