This system allows drivers to use paddles behind the steering wheel to simulate gear shifts and torque-cut, just like in a combustion vehicle. The IONIQ 5N also boasts an impressive soundtrack, courtesy of Hyundai’s N Active Sound+ system.

The experience of driving an EV with these features is genuinely more engaging than any traditional combustion engine. This is particularly noteworthy given the IONIQ 5N’s performance credentials (0-60mph in just 3.2 seconds, thanks to its 601 horsepower and 545 lb-ft of torque).

Hyundai isn’t alone in this approach; Kia has also been experimenting with similar features on its high-performance EVs, including the Kia EV6 GT and Kia EV9 GT. The latter is a three-row electric SUV that delivers a genuinely thrilling driving experience.

With rapid technological advancements, there’s no reason why drivers can’t enjoy the benefits of electric propulsion while still getting a kick out of driving.
